Isn't there supposedly an Ohio Players song that contained the screams of a murder happening in the studio? Although that's a fake rumour perhaps Prince wanted to go one better than his idols and get that authentic murder scream... | |

You're thinking of Rollercoaster!! I remember hearing this rumor when the song originally came out in the 70s. I was prbably about 8 or 9 and my cousin told me that the scream in the middle of the song was the scream of a girl falling off a roller coaster at Magic Mountain and that she really died. 1999 was the first prince album i ever bought when iwas 10 years old.
my interpretation of the screaming was that prince was on a stage in the middle of a street sending everyone crazy with his outlook on what life should be like.DANCE MUSIC SEX ROMANCE.(not unlike the street scene in Fame) Anyway i thought the screaming was from a woman who kinda stumbled upon them by accident and she doesnt want to be there. hence "help me,help me somebody please help me" or maybe not Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
