I have always seen the similarities and connection between Bruce Lee and prince...their amazing work ethic, magnetism, intensity and charisma....but most of all their seemingly otherworldly abilities and talents. I can even see them both hanging out- Bruce in his high heels and bell bottoms and Prince in his own cool threads. Bruce wanted to sing and Prince would've appreaciated Bruce's skills for sure. Good to see some other Bruce Lee appreciators here too btw, thoughts and prayers for Tacky during his difficult times right now.. [Edited 5/5/16 3:13am]

I am in no way saying he was a drug addict - an addiction is very different from having a physical dependency on a drug. I apologize if there was I was not clear in my communication.

As far as staying up for days it could be insomnia or some other sleep disorder. Sheila Said in her book that he would sometimes sleep all day like a vampire and then be ready to go for 24 hours or so. He stayed up as long as he could crashed and then went back to work. Do you think a 30 year Coke habit is going to allow him to function at any level. Did your hear his piano playing from those shows? Do you think that was a raving coke/pill head playing? He was in an outpatient program to get it under control and I think the withdrawal took him out.

Lord knows that man never rested. He experssed forcing himself to take a musical break for several months before doing it all over again with 20Ten and a tour. He actually did stiop after that for at least 3 years and went straight back into working overtime Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Agree with everyone about his body giving out. He was committed to giving so much of himself. It was a concentrated mission and need to share his gift with us all. We can take solace in that although I would much rather have him back. If there was a way, ugh!!!! This situation breaks my heart. He definitely lived his life and made no excuses not to enjoy it. This is my takeway from such a brilliant ingenue.

. For sure..there is no one doubting that. But I agree that perhaps he was OCD workaholic..or "create-aholoic" and he just wouldn't allow himself to slow down and rest. . That's assuming he didn't have other health problems that we didn't know about.

Yes. Since he already had a low blood count (severely anemic), it can affect your organs (like kidneys) and can shutdown. Happen to my aunt who OD'ed on painkillers and almost died. She developed sepsis and had nearly total organ shutdown. One minute she was fine and communicating before she enter the hospital and next minute nearly died in few hours. Now she cant walk or talk. Total invalid and need 24 hr care. That was 6 yrs ago. She's not any better. ~ formerly ZsaZsaZsu and Technagirl, living in LaLaLand Ba-bey!!

With so many experts analyzing his physical condition it's only a matter of time before we'll know exactly what happened to Prince. Could be an undiagnosed heart condition, just like when all those young healthy high school atheletes suddenly die. Or (hate to say it) but could be he's one of thousands who got addicted to pain meds for actual pain and took more and more until his body couldn't take anymore. They'll figure it out. Just feel blessed we lived at the same time he did and hopefully there will be even more music and videos from him. In the meantime.......I feel the need to watch Electric Chair for the 100th time!!!

I'm behind on this thread. I was just thinking today that he had to have had a low RBC count and low vitamin D too. IMO, he was looking sallow & underweight in the last few months. With it widely reported that he was not just vegan/vegetarian but also a picky/small eater and had to be reminded to drink water, it's no surprise he probably wasn't getting all the right nutrients. Plus, not sleeping (as reported) and adding prescriptions into the mix, your body is just not going to function properly. Especially your heart. I think it was a combination of a lot of things that caused his body to give out

I can't remember on what thread here, but sometime in the early 2010s, was a thread that quoted an article in a music magazine (UkQ I think) that said that Prince would only live to 56, and they added and took off years for various factors. The poster of teh thread got shouted down by everyone there I remember. . Kind of agree though, he was a vegan for 20+ years, don't care what all the hippys and greenies say, a body needs meat and dairy. Also he was skinny as a rail, sleeping 2 hour a night and spending all his waking time in a studio, on stage or in cars, hardly ever outside in the great outdoors getting oxygen (Not that you could outside of April - October in that polar place he lived). . So yeah a body can only take so much and now since he was popping pills too. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

The body needs protien and calcuim. You don't have to get protein from meet and definately don't need calcuim from dairy. In fact, the process our bodies have to do to break down dairy robs us of more calcium than is returned from dairy. Our bodies are not made to digest cow's milk. I know this because I have been a vegan for 7 years. Being vegan alone isn't going to make you healthy. You have to be the right kind of vegan (not a junk food vegan) and your body needs rest and water and all the other stuff he wasn't getting. I will admit though, he did look thin and sallow the past few years. I just wish someone would have been there to take care of him. This is actually common with geniuses. Reportedly Einstein would also forget to eat. Join me under the waterfall
