I stopped wearing heels a couple of years ago. Have terrible feet pain everytime I do wear them and I don't dance on top of pianos. It must have been a real strain on him.
 indeed they caused him problems, but he wore them like no other.

Don't beleive everything you read. Morris Day had hip replacement. So did Sammy Davis Jr, I th ink. Did they both wear high heels? No. Prince was very rough on his legs and knees from all the dancing he did, which is probably why he was in pain there as he got older. Maybe his choice of footwear was a factor but it didn't cause the problem. |

He fell down a bunch of times during concerts. I saw a couple of them either in person or on video and that happens to every other dancer who does thousands of shows as well. |

Women are more likely than men to suffer from chronic pain. So if the painkiller story is true, it's probably a combination of shoes and what he did in them, and there could certainly be genetic factors in there as well. It's not uncommon for people to start suffering from the very beginnings of arthritis at his age, either.

You nailed it. I wear high heels only on certain occasions and even though my knees are aching and have been operated twice. I have run hurdles, hurt my right knee in the slopes but otherwise... I have always worn flat heels or comfortable shoes where I know I can run every time I need to. Running or jumping in high heels is ridiculous but Prince made it kind of art. RESPECT. It doesn't matter whether those high heels were custom made or not, people's feet were not made for walking around in high heels. I made it to my 30s. But had to have multiple surgeries to correct my feet because I was in so much pain. Haven't worn high heels since.
