his best might be sign of the times. honestly, I always thought he had filmaking talent, in under the cherry moon he did some fine work. His problem was, he didn't have anyone to consult with, to tell him "that idea is too wierd" and he wouldn't listen. The result is, sometimes the stuff was embarrassing. | |

I haven't either. How is it? I actually really like under the cherry moon. I think it's highly underrated and ahead of it's time as far as it being a very farcical performance. And I also love purple rain because, well, purple rain (even though I can't stand apollonia.) Join me under the waterfall

The further it goes, the funnier it gets. It's not as spectacular as Purple Rain, but still OK. Come to think of it, it's ages ago that I evn listened to the album. Nice to hear those tunes again... | |

filmaker spike lee couldn't even say anything about graffiti bridge it was so bad but he called sign of the times "a motherfucker" and it was pretty damn good. The man had talent, just not enough focus and editing skills, he could have been a fine filmaker, maybe he was, the vault has stuff in it. | |

I've listened to the Chaos And Disorder album, less than like a half-dozen times. That lyric: "He's gay, used to mean he's happy", pissed me off so much at the time. Well, that, and the fact it was obviously contractual filler. And I never liked Eye Hate U... Rosie Gaines and her man-sized lungs too... It just didn't have much going for it. I am going to revisit it soon. | |

It rocks! . It also has "Into The Light / I Will." Man, what a song. Prince jumps into the waters of arena rock and does it better than anybody else. Great tune. | |

only albums that i can really think of that i can't get into are For You,The triple release lotus,minne,bria album and the rainbow children. I have to say that I will revisit all of them because sometimes we are to blame for not listening well. | |

Cloreen, this is how I roll with every artist I'm fond of. I leave a gap. I named my only child after someone in cinema (I don't wish to name him here). He has only a dozen or so features in his career, and one of them I haven't seen. I own more than one copy on DVD, but it remains unwatched. I'm saving it for god knows when, possibly when the guy passes away. And as a hardcore Prince fan, I've never heard 1999: The New Master. My order went missing in the mail (I think) and I never rectified it. Never heard it played anywhere either. Having said that, we are the only fans in the world who, rights and squabbling aside, could have a lifetime of unheard work ahead of us still. How about that! |

. So true. . Whenever a Prince fan says they love such-and-such a record, even if it is a record I dismiss, I can easily understand. The many facets of Prince material allows for different favorites for every fan. .

I know they are lesser works. Just imagine if I did this with "Sign O The Times"? Today would be the first time I would be listening to that brilliance. That would be something. As it stands now, I have "Rave" and "Vault" -- two Prince albums I have never listened to that are now wonderful treasures that will be opened for the first time.

i love how one fan can love the different incarnations of prince, no one changed so often and so much, not even bowie. I love all kinds of music and I have liked just about some of most of the stuff fans have bitched about over the years. always loved claire fisher's music, always loved the rock, funk, pop varieties, even liked the wrap sometimes and I hate hip hop. I think that amongst his best work are songs where he's completely honest, Avalanche/Way Back Home, you can hear he's singing as if no one will ever hear these songs, one can only imagine that the fabled "Wally" was in this vein and that's why he destroyed it. | |
