'Pain' was released by Chaka Khan in 1997, though it was originally recorded for and subsequently removed from Rosie Gaines' long delayed album. Interestingly, PrinceVault only lists the original as having Rosie's vocals - http://princevault.com/in...title=Pain - but as I've just listened to Prince singing it, I guess they need to update that page.

Yes, and please nobody tell me where I can listen to the goldmine of leaked unreleased music it's obvious half the people on here have already heard. I doubt my virgin ears will be able to handle it if I partake in a bite of the purple rock. I've searched Youtube and trust me, absolutely nobody is distributing bootlegs there right now.

The Chaka Khan release will give you an idea. It's a relatively simple song.

Unfortunately, the Prince leak is not in pristine quality and doesn't have the bright production of Chaka's, but I prefer it. His singing and spoken voice is more interesting. It's pretty sparse, noodles around a little and is driven by the bass line. It's got a sound effect reminicent of Batdance that makes me want to shout out "Keep bustin'", which is a bit odd.

So happy to have this! I love both Chaka's and Rosie's versions of this.

PrinceVault says initial tracking took place in June 1990. Rosie brought the song to Prince, so it was obviously after she joined the band for the Nude tour.

I have never heard about it.. I guess the time needs a song like that.... sad....

It was leaked as a video, so I assume the mp3 that's out there is just a rip.

Awesome, well worth the cost for a new Prince release. Sounds to me like this was recorded as a group live session as opposed to individual tracks. Not sure what Prince is playing here, but he is definitely on backup vocals.
