No, it was time to see an addiction specialist, which he was going to do. Telling him he needed proper pain management wouldn't have saved him then.

I used to tell my mom when I was growing up ( in a abusive household) how much I loved purple rain and watching it made me feel ok about my upbringing and one day I would like to thank him. so, I would thank him for helping me through some hard times I'd probably tell him his fans love him and he needs to get himself help

I'm sorry, but this is really splitting hairs. Anyone who's been close to someone who is either dependent upon or addicted to something knows it's a razor fine line between the two. It's many shades of grey here and even addiction itself is multifaceted.
The fact of the matter is, however, that tens of thousands of people die every year from opiate overdose, whether they're addicted, dependent or even just recreational users.

Well,he hated cellphones he didn't own one.So i would of used the phone in the elevator if it was one. Then would of pulled him out of there onto a solid floor and administered cpr.Whoever the other two people that were with the man that found prince one the elevator door opened weren't directly at the elevator during the 911 call when he had to ask them to get the address.

I am not looking for any type of answer - but I will suggest that you scroll down and read what leb1985 posted as a reply.
Perhaps what I wrote is not what is actually dumb on this thread... [Edited 5/4/16 9:43am] Save America - Stop Illegal Immigration. God bless America. PEACE

Not sure why everyone is so afraid of the term addict. Percocet is one of the most addictive substances on Earth. I myself was strung out on the sh!t after a back procedure. I am still in pain most of the time but my experience the first time around- when I had to get off it, the withdrawal was horrendous and now if I take it I make sure it's not for more than two days tops- just to take the edge off the pain when it gets so bad. I don't have it on hand currently, have no script for it but I think about it everyday and want it. Fortunately for me, I am not a celebrity who can just get whatever I want when I want it or I guarantee my life would be different. To not acknowledge the fact of the POWER of opioids by saying "he may not have been addicted" is why this crisis is destroying and or killing the best minds of our generation. People see addict and think some dirty junkie on the street turning tricks. That ain't the case... And until we end that stigma, we will continue to have this problem. It was most likely Prince's shame and embarrassment that prevented in from saying, "yo I got to get help" and it happens to more people than you can imagine. It's ok to say he was addicted, it's important to say he was, because Percocet is POWERFUL and they don't really tell you that when thy give it to you. He took it to keep performing, he masked the pain, made it worse, and kept taking more as his body deteriorated even faster. I'd say it was more his dependency on his religion that got him than anything else. He was a slave to their rules and that is what I will never understand. He didn't want his music controlled but his "brothers and sisters" had him chained. Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

It's really not splitting hairs. I actually think the distintion needs to be made because the way you treat a dependence and an addiction can be different. The differences are small and shades of grey, but powerful. Join me under the waterfall

You know what is weird - I often imagine myself as superman prizing the doors open to get him. I am thinking he didn't get stuck between floors as they didn't call the fire brigade to get him out etc. Whatever you heard about me is true

I've stayed away from the media but I couldn't avoid reading about the Star Tribune report. I can't do it either. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I'd have told him he was not alone, he was very loved by so many people, and it was ok, he was going home. Appropriate comfort and human love. I'd do the same thing for anyone who needed it - some things are about being human. I'm looking out for a purple dolphin.
