No hatin'..I have no problem with Josh and he seems like a good guy. But I'm curious when did Prince and Josh become so close (I don't think Prince and Hannah were even that tight)? Prince let him co-produced his recent albums, he mentioned Josh in interviews, and if you saw some of the recent Paisley Park performances, you'd hear Prince mention "Josh, he's my brother man, right there."

Again, just curious.

Why does anyone love someone so much? They just do. There are no reasons sometimes that you can articulate with any clarity.

I used to wonder this too around the time of AOA and PE. But seeing more footage of Prince & 3EG together, along with the tweet from Josh's wife, have taught me that Prince was a very loving person & mentor to these young protoges. I celebrate that positive bond they had. I think Prince was making amends for the way he behaved towards bandmates / friends earlier in life.

He saw a lot of himself in Josh at that age ..Josh spoke of Prince saying , i can t break you guys apart and the respect he always showed Hannah,,,it was genuine and sincere

I read an interview a while back that said they only spoke a few times until they bonded over an in-depth discussion about their religion.

I believe they had a deep spiritual connection. More than anybody on this board, I'm sure Prince considered him a true friend. I'm thankful for that, and their professional relationship. HNR Phase 1 will always be one of my favorite albums. Can't think of any album that got so unfairly sh*t on by (ahem) "fans".

Prince understood what it is like to love a great female drummer.

He could relate to Josh in that way.

The note that Hannah posted the other day made it clear that the three of them were very, very close. It sounds like a lovely relationship that they all shared as friends, and I'm betting Prince probably saw some of himself in Josh.
