There's nobody else in music I really like Of course, there are a few musicians I moderately enjoy, but nobody I really like the way I did Prince. I'm an old school girl, I loved George Clinton, Sly, Earth Wind and Fire, but it seems when Prince came along, he blew them all out of the water. I feel as if my music life is over now. I haven't felt right since he left us. I get depressed seeing TV ads for Billboard awards, any type of awards show now. Didn't realize how much this is going to affect me.

That's common. I felt hopeless about the industry more than ever . I feel it to an extent, but have to focus on my own roots of when I began to enjoy music, cause at the end of the day, it's about us. I prefer being in a state where I didn't single out and put artists on a pedestal before I knew about this being commonplace, it's emotionally healthier. You can still like those artists but maybe place limits so it's not painful all over again.

Have you ever checked out Van Hunt? I'm not saying he's as good as Prince (let's be real!) but he has some great music. And he's only getting started! "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Didn't stick with any other artist like I do with P. He's my go to to escape. Won't look for another. "I don't make the rules. I just play"

I've only been hardcore into Prince for about 20 years. But this still rips my guys out. There's nobody else like him. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I know exactly what u mean because I feel the same way ... I will never ever like a musician the way I liked loved adored Prince, not ever, he is incomparable anyway, it's such a huge loss and so infinitely sad to know he is not in this world anymore, I still find it damn hard to cope with this
Forever changed | |

I have veeeeerrry distant second favorite artists. They be higher up if they weren't so lazy by not putting an album out evert year. I mean some people work for a living I mean how hard is it to put out 10 songs a year!? Take Prince for example.... Haha that's how I feel about it No matter the ©️, Paisley Park "official can never ™️ . He gave that to us verbally on Oprah in 1996. You can't take away from us, corporate. I mean O ( + >

I love music and have tons of bands I adore. But I have been listening to P nonstop since the news. Guess it's a way to keep him close.

Yes same here and I know what you are talking about. I didn't go see many concerts at all, but I would go see Prince every time he came to town (and otherwise). But no one else every interested and excited me 1/10 as much as he does.

I m a huge fan of Sly Stone, but common, it's been 35 years he didn't do anything. I love Mccartney too but he is so boring now. Prince was so exciting. He can't be compared to others still alive. This is so depressing.

Losing Prince is a real kick in the teeth for music lovers, especially ones like us who primarily listen to Prince. I mentioned on another thread that I only have Bruce Springsteen and D'Angelo left as artists I would rush out and buy their stuff as soon as it's released. Having said that, they can't replace Prince's music in my mind. There are some alternatives for Prince fans going forward. I'd recommend D'Angelo's 3 albums to anyone. Van Hunt, as KingSausage says, is well worth checking out. Likewise, Dam Funk should scratch your P-Funk itch. None of these are as good as Prince (though D'Angelo's last album comes VERY close) but at least they provide a good distraction until the vault stuff starts coming out.

But that too will pass and after a while I/we will be digging other acts again. Music didn't die. But it's true there's few if any acts left who are really worth following any more. I love Dylan, but he only records and plays covers nowadays. I love Kate Bush, but her return to the stage was a one-off thing.

I feel the same, like it trully is the "day the music died" - as Prince was my main person I listened too as well, everyone else just sucks. I have listened to other artists but that is because I knew Prince was the best and it was just a little break if I did throw on another album, but Prince fills up 85% of my iPhone itunes Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Prince music was my youth and my life and it moved me. Only ones close to moving me music wise are the Cocteau Twins. Of course i have many others i like but nothing esle comes close to Prince music to me. Prince then the Cocteau Twins make/made music that sent shivers down my spine. Not many artists can do that for me. [Edited 5/3/16 6:44am]

I have been a fan of Van since his first album (I have a couple that were not relreased). He is oneof the few artists who you can tell came out of Prince to some extent and is a real muscial artist (not a rapper or just a singer). I suppose the same can be said for TTD, Janelle Monet, and DAngelo. After that, there is no one else left who is even close to Prince. Save America - Stop Illegal Immigration. God bless America. Until he passed away I hadn't listened to much of him for ages. Since then I've listened to only him. But that'll pass and I'll be back to my usual musical habits. Field Music, Public Service Broadcasting, John Grant, Ezra Ferman, Courtney Barnet, there's lots of music out there

There is no one in music, who I feel is as relateable as Prince. He knew how to connect with people, and that was part of his appeal.
He never stopped making music, and being interested in the world around him, and, being relevant.
Maybe, because he was American, and a midwesterner; but many other people found his message and music was their speed. He never lost his roots, that is for sure; stayed in his hometown.
Just a very appealing person, on so many levels, but professionally, visually and he seemed like a very nice person. RIP, Prince.
