POP LIFE QUESTION
So as I've been listening to a lot of Prince tributes on the radio lately and, on yesterday, Pop Life came on. Never thought to ask before, but what is that "sample" towards the end? Is it a boxing match? A horse race? Does anyone have any specifics on what exactly was sampled and why it was inserted into the song like that?

Prince stated he added the cough to Raspberry Beret because no one had ever done it before. I theorize the same explanation here.

The effect is very similar to one the Beatles did

Maybe it was just an intuitive thing he thought would work on the track, like the baby laughing at the end of Delirious. I suppose it suggests something going wrong if you follow thrillseeking path of the Pop Life... [Edited 5/3/16 8:23am]

To add to the rest, I'm pretty certain it's a boxing match. That one guy seems to pretty clearly shout "Throw (or roll?) the bum out!"
