Hi guys I'm looking to try and get a genuine copy of Crystal Ball (and if possible, One Night Alone) on CD, as they are still missing from my collection, but I'm wary of buying anything from eBay due to the amount of fakes. Any advice you can give me would be great. Cheers Kev 😊

Seriously, I would not buy anything like that right now unless you happen to run into a deal. And I don't mean a deal compared to prices right now. Let the market return to normal. It probably won't be the bargain basement some items were at a month ago, but obviously the market is abnormal right now and very bad for buyers.

Also I don't agree that "real fans" won't sell anything ever again. Some will move on as always, others will go completely digital.

I started collecting prince albums a good 10 years ago. I found a lot of them from a local used music/dvd store. Like Emancipation which at the time I could not find, unless on ebay. I only have 20. I just purchased 1999 on amazon because it was cheap and I have prime. Its my hope that i can collect most, if not all of his music at some point.

It will all be available again at affordable prices in a matter of years, ie it won't take decades.

With that said I'm annoyed that I didn't buy everything as it came out, eg 3121. Yes, I didn't even buy 3121; I thought these records were like everybody else's (as far as buying them was concerned) and that I'd get around to it later.

Mind you, I still do think that. It's just going to take a little longer than I'd thought.

The only way to tell if they're real is to try to bite into the data. Take the discs and put them in your mouth (data side facing down usually works best). Then not down hard. If you left bite marks on your disc, it's probably real.

I sold N.E.W.S for about 65 dollars some days before prince passed.
I was kind of surprised that someone would pay that much for a cd.
What i regret selling is the black album a few months ago the 94' version for about 65 dollars as well but i have the cd as well and im not selling it.

Not years. Months.

Barring obviously the "obscure" releases like original ONA CD and "The War" CD (for example), but they are high in prices ever (not absolutely overpriced, by the way).

Cheers for the replies guys, thanks for your help. Looks like I'm not the only 1.

LOL

It's not even so much how much things cost as much as it is paying large amounts for things that aren't even genuine. God damn forgeries.

That's the problem with CDs I suppose, how easy they are to fake.

Is there any way to definitively spot fakes? I'd be interested (but nervous) going through my collection and making sure they were all genuine.

Did you mean One Nite Alone the album or One Nite Alone...Live Boxset?
