The First Time I Heard When Doves Cry... I was in a dance club in Baltimore, the Fells Point neighborhood. The DJ announced that it was the new Prince single. My reaction was HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. this is amazing. I had the first 5 albums and loved 1999, but this seemed to take it to a whole new level. To this day, whenever I hear it I crank up the volume and relive that moment.

That's really cool. My reaction was pretty much the same..it didn't sound like ANYTHING on the radio. That opening guitar lick sounded church to me. I watched the MTV world premiere video and thought it was strange, outside the box but cool as all f#ck. Between "Rock Box" and "Flesh For Fantasy, "W.D.C" was the big jam that summer. | |

Omg. The video for When Doves Cry was my absolute favourite. We could not get enough of that song. My cousins had an old car that was bad on gas, but whenever that song came on.....it didn't matter if we just pulled up to the house or if the car was acting up, we had to ride around to hear out the song. One of the best summers ever! So many P memories  | |
