Prince's tendency for "extreme" beliefs - eg veganism and JW beliefs Consipiracy theories, Stauros, no cussing, possible anti-gay feelings...hell wasnt he against Christmas as some point?
This man did nothing halfway and for all his talk of freedom early on, he seem to be drawn to rigidity and formal rules as he got older.
Very disturbing that he wasnt eating right towards the end there. That could have harmed his heart and made him more suceptible to OD.
Having two major incidents within a week, definitely points to something different going on in his body than prior.

Prince probably never celebrated Christmas much. He was raised Seventh Day Advent, then eventually converted to the JW thing years and years later. Neither religions celebrate holidays. . Even in DMSR, it's noted that there were presents under a tree or something, but Prince wasn't much interested in them. Of course, he could have also been balls deep in working, too. But when you're raised in that sort of thing, sometimes the simpliest of things stick with you into adulthood, even if you don't necessarily subscribe to the religion as a whole. I was raised in an Independent Baptist church - which was 10x more strict than the Southern Baptist Convention. I grew up and moved out of state, and at 29, I still had inklings of that upbringing in me. It took me another real decade to break those thoughts, and be free from them. Religion is a hell of a drug. As a side note: The Jacksons, even as adults, never put up Christmas trees until later in their years. I think Janet said she'd never had a birthday part until she was in her 30s. . While it's extreme not to celebrate a holiday, perhaps, it's just part of the religion, so to them it's just a daily thing to do this, or not do that. It's not a big "Okay this is NOT what we're doing this week". It's just routine. The same goes with the stauros speeches. JW, in my opinion, is more of an off-shoot of traditional Christianity, not a regular part of it (like Methodist, Baptist, Episcopalan, COGIC, Pentacostal, etc). They've altered the bible in such huge ways (not just minor language or syntax changes which keep the meaning but change the level of modern english in it), that it's practically a different book. . No cursing is part of the JW too, really. Plus maybe he just grew up a bit on that one. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Sure, veganism seems extreme by twenty-first century North American standards, where 69% of the American population is overweight on industrially raised, tortured and slaughtered animal products jacked full of antibiotics that are helping make a clusterfuck out of people's health and the environment, but go back in history: chickens are not the same today as they were 100 years ago, and people had less meat available. Go overseas: in many parts of the world, people eat a much more vegetarian diet. I wouldn't call veganism "extreme" or extremist, more like "conscious." No, I'm not a vegan. Dude liked his Captain Crunch with soy milk.

I went vegan for quite a while in 2013 or 2014. While it's difficult to find new recipes, after a while you learn some tricks. You also have to watch out because there's a lot of vegetarian and vegan junk food on the market, packed with sodium and crap. However, I did learn to make a vegan liverwurst that was killer. I also made a vegan cheese with soaked cashews that was bomb. Good snack food. I never did master my own mayo recipe though. . I think vegetarian is a more logical, for most, choice in eating. Even now, and I'm not vegan anymore, I consciously fill 2/3 of my plate with vegetables and only 1/3 with meat. . By the way, don't even get me started on how chicken product has changed in the last 50 years. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I hear you, I was vegan two years and now I'm just veg (it didn't help finding out I was allergic to soy). I didn't find coming up with recipes difficult and recommend The 30 Minute Vegan for quick meals. My point is veganism is more moderate than a lot of people think, maybe you would agree - cheap, healthy, and earth-conscious if you know what you're doing. I'm a lazy bastard who likes to eat out.

Conspiracy REALITY. | |

I thought he was eating right, from what his chef said? Prince seemed very strict where his health was concerned, didn't people that worked with him said that he didn't allow any meat on the premises? As for his JW beliefs, we all know that he took that very seriously.

Prince was a vegan at some stage in the 1990s. Why (and when exactly) he apparently changed his diet to a 'simple' vegetarian diet seems to be unknown. . I wouldn't call veganism an 'extreme belief' btw.

You also have to remember that Seventh Day Adventists eat very "clean" - if he was raised in that religion, there would be a big holdover from that. Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs are very much in line with Adventist beliefs.

There's 4 Seventh Day Adventists around the corner from me. Very nice guys. I discussed God with them and their beliefs. Much easier going than the likes of Larry Graham with his JW dogma. Larry and Prince tried to bully people into believing what they did, wrong approach.

That's just that chef's words. It was noted here recently that Prince had a health scare (on April 21, 1992 or somewhere in the 90s) because he had went strictly vegan. That can be a shock to anyone's system. It was to mine. He was drinking wine a lot, and was having heart palpatations or a quickened heart rate. Prince even said he was vegan, but also recently stated (in more recent years) that he eventually switched to vegetarian. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Must have been this event, exactly 20 years prior to passing:

When Prince did anything he did it 100% or not at all. He did mellow the last few years. Age does that to anyone though. Weird that he had that accident on 21 April long ago. Sounds though like anyone with low tolerance to alcohol mixed with stress, empty stomach and asprin. Yeah, exactly. Plus in the Twin Cities there's a really large and thriving vegan community, and being vegan isn't really viewed as that unusual around here, particularly among younger people. There's even a vegan butcher shop, if you can believe it. And I see all of your creations as one perfect complex

First of all . . "veganism" ins't an "extreme belief" - it just means someone isn't eating all of the same foods you've been brainwashed to eat.
Second - he wasn't a vegan. He was a vegetarian

Raised Seventh Day Adventist, soooo, nope not really an extreme on his part for either one.

He was a vegan in the late 90ies when he was married to Mayte. But we don't know exactly how long he was a vegan.

veganism is easy - just takes a couple of months of adjustment much like a kid who didn't do a lot of shopping or cooking as a teen moving into their own place. Prince started back on the dairy even though he had a personal chef, nothing extreme about it, especially when he lives in a bit of a bubble, not like he was attending family functions where his siblings were cooking for him and not trying to accomodate him ** do something, before we're gone , and we're just a rock where a world went wrong...**
