Poem for Prince Poem for Prince / Ian Brockway Hyacinth hermit A surf of mascara The thread of a needle along a Rapunzel eye Ebony hair in the air No need for company Wooden-legged by day Sorcerer by night Your legs an easy battle To mortals, a pinnochio surprise Weaving me in stitches From orange Chanhassen to pale key west Jump-laying my body with strange design in throttling leaps: Lascivious pentagrams, adrenal acrostics, comic trails of albuterol in cursive scarabee An all percussive witness, Jehovah's Sodoku Pooling frazzle-funk hollows from chest to feet Turning my palsy to paisley Bristle man of mustache And ease of movement Eye of a smile Dance of aubergine Racy riddler of piano, bird and audience alike Make a clown of Batman; of pop-star touchscreens, a fool's face in charade Smirk inside The Kid's cabinet Wave and disappear. - [ ] | |
