How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore is perfect.

Second for second, it really is perfect. I always forget how much I like this song.

Yep, it's a fantastic song. But it does have one flaw ... it fades out too soon. "Why on earth can't you just pick up the phone. You know I don't like to be alone. Why ..."he

cool It has always been one of my favorites. I saw him perform it live one time and I even like the remake version by Stephanie Mills.

Exactly my thought, why did he end so soon? those last lines are so great.

I, too, love this song. What are everyone's thoughts on Alicia Key's version?

If you set your mind free, baby, maybe you'd understand.

I remember the first time I put the 7" for 1999 on the turntable and heard this song. I still remember standing there in awe and so excited. Thank you for that Prince and for so many other occasions just like that.

Yes for sure. It would have fit just fine on there but I guess only so much room on the double album.

He played at his last show in Atlanta and was wonderful as always.

.

As soon as I heard the first few notes, I jumped up and the woman besides me just lost it. She was saying "that's my song".....But we both reacted to it instantly.

The original version by P is the greatest. The Stephanie Mills version is on point. She blazed that song.

It's part of my set list, played it at this past ssturdays gig. I play: Eb-F-Gb-G-Ab-Ab and just stop(me and the whole band), it just seemed like a natural way to end it.

Why Prince did it the way he did who knows, but he wrote it and he is a genius, so I guess thats why lol..

I liked it when his songs would seem to be taking off in a new direction as its fading out. It's like the song continues to live on and we only get to hear a snippet of it.

Oh my God, you're the first person on the org I've heard say this! It is my NUMBER ONE Prince song! The piano is downright chiiling. That part of the bridge, "I'm down on my kness, begging you please, PLEA-EASE-EASE-EASE-EASE-EASE, oooo-hooo..." gives me the chills. The cresecendo of the piano, his falsetto...

.

I was SO MAD when Alicia Keys covered this song, then actually did a duet with him! Ugh! No one else is in a league enough to do that.

No-one else could understand you, you're too complex. They say nothing's perfect, but they don't know you...

If you listen closely though, like with headphones, you can care hear the rest. "You know I don't like to be alone. Why! Why must you torture me? Why you gotta treat me so bad..."

Yep! This was imo the best ballad until The Beautiful Ones was issued on PR.
Alicia Keys' cover is great as well. But Prince's original can't be beaten.

I know, but it happens the same with Forever In My Life, that beautiful accoustic guitar wouldn't hurt if it were 1 minute longer, for me the song would have been much better.
