Hey guys...quick question...it has been brought to my attention that some bootlegs out there are directly from Prince himself...any truth to this? And if so...I found some stuff that I've NEVER heard anywhere...therefore...PP has a tapedeck running at all times or... For example...the ORIGINAL Beautiful Ones...Prince...if you read this...hit me up...cuz I'm like Marvin Gaye...I wanna know whats goin on...holla!

No bootlegs are directly from Prince.
The whole "Prince is behind the boots" thing
is a total myth.

Now see this is why I don't post stuff here...and my question was in reference to a recording of the Beautiful Ones and Darling Nikki that are original cuts...not the ones from Purple Rain...unless someone knows something I don't...I don't know if they are bootlegs...or leaked from Paisley Park...thats all...and please don't post nasty remarks and stuff guys...the org use to be a really fun place..but a lot of comments made and verbal wars are just nonsense...its just a website...

Bootlegs are the results of enginers having access to analog/digital tracks that they master for Prince to re-engineer.

Other people who touch relatively finished prince tracks:

producers, editors, sometimes music execs, trusted people within the artists camp

And my personal favorite:

the person the artist is fucking at the time of the song production.

BTW: this is a common question that has been answered here on Prince org, on Alt.music.Prince, and also in MANY various areas on the web that involve any artist being bootleged. Considering all the shit you just went though on this thread, perhaps you should have done a little searching first.

It's been answered that the only time Prince gives out songs is to girlfriends who end up leaving and have somebody buy it from them.

of a lot of the tracks from Purple Rain
'out there'. A lot of them come from
earlier incarnations of the album, where
there were less songs, and therefore
more room for longer takes.

The original longer version of "The

'story' dialogue before the "I may not
know where I'm going, baby" line, and
is about 6:09 long.

It would be a shame if it was your last post because you were also the only person so far as I am aware to report here of Prince's St Valentine performance in St Louis this year. This was a one-off scoop (reported on 17th February http://www.prince.org/msg...&tid=36857) and so far I do not believe anyone else has been able to corroborate this appearance despite you having claimed it was also broadcast live on radio, Seemingly, and somewhat surprisingly, no other person on this message board or on others that I have visited has either heard about this appearance through anyone other than yourself or chanced to hear the radio broadcast. I'm truly mystified about this.

If anyone at all can provide some further evidence of this alleged Prince appearance that June19 reported, it would be greatly appreciated.

Equally, there is likely to be some music fans who attended the concert or who heard the broadcast who were not necessarily Prince followers, but have friends or relatives that are very interested in his music, so they are likely to pass on the information - or even have taped the radio show.

So I'm just appealing for some more witness accounts - maybe a concert review even - from someone other than yourself. I'm not contesting your post that stated you heard Prince's appearance at the concert - just asking for some more accounts - which, in all fairness, I'd expect to have heard or read about.
