The man was sick. He may have died from the drugs, but there was an underlying illness. Frankly, it makes me feel better that this was something beyond his control. I am so tired of the media making him out to be an addict. He was in control. He knew exactly what was happening to him.

drug addiction is a disease. He was not in control.

Like obesity is a disease? Bullshit.

I find it interesting that TMZ (which, let's face it, has been the most reliable source) hasn't said anything about Prince having AIDS.If this story was true, they would have reported it already. They always get the "scoop" and most of their information turns out to be true.I refuse to believe anything that the National Enquirer reports and I would urge other fans to do the same.

No, but if it was drugs it kinda does. Perhaps because it contradicts the way he chose to present himself.

I'm less judgy if it was prescription addiction because of how much pain he was in.

It's like judging a cancer patient for wanting heroin treatment.

If it was illegal drug addiciton then yeah that would be a contradiction.

From a moral point of view? Nothing wrong with taking medication for medical reasons, somthing else to take drugs to get high.

Apparently.

But I see how people can get lost in them when dealing with chronic pain I can't even imagine.

The bigger elephant to me is (and I know this will possibly be controversdial) did Prince die for us?

I remember reading an article with Courtney Love and she was talking about being apprehensive about touring again because american audiences demanded that you give your life onstage.

When I look at how Michael Jackson worked himself into debilitation with those crazy tours and how Prince really went above and beyond when he really should've retired from touring maybe decades ago, I always wonder why, when the pain started, they didn't just take care of themselves and say enough.

Like I said before when I saw Prince he was dancing on a piano only to jump off it into a split and pop back up as if he were walking to the mailbox. I was like DAMN but I also knew it would come back to bite him one day.

You bring up a good point.Prince and Michael Jackson worked so hard to please their fans, but now I kinda wish that,if they were in so much physical pain, they had retired from live performances/concerts.I know it's crazy to say that but ,their lives are more important than concerts. We would rather just have them here on Earth, still alive! neutral I don't want any of my favorite artists to kill themselves trying to please me!

I don't understand why he shouldn't be going into detail. It brings us closer to the truth of what happened.

I'd rather get the truth from the autopsy/toxicology reports not someone's speculation though.

Toxicology report is not going to tell you how he was feeling in the months before he died. The only truth it's going to give you is what the true results of the tests are. It may create more questions than what it answered.

.

The chefs are giving you the truth, unless you choose to think they are lying or delusional, and both of those are unlikely. The truth is that Prince wasn't feeling well for the last few months.

but they're not giving me the "why". only autopsy/toxicology can give us those answers. what the chef is saying is leading to more speculation. that's why i said he should've kept details of his wellness to himself.

Sadly, toxicology reports nor autopsy reports will be able to determine if he died from SUDEP (sudden epileptic seizures) which accounts for the cause of death of most childhood diagnosed epileptics. Epilepsy in Prince's day was just not discussed or talked about; and plenty thought it was a curse or result of sin. Many would advocate that prayer could prevent seizures and there were very few medications choices available. Prince revealed his epilepsy in 2009 and since then it seemed like he had moments where he'd show vulnerability, reaching out to old band members etc., but then not ever fully letting himself trust anyone.

Epileptics desire control for they know they have no real control over seizures -meaning after no seizures for decades a spontaneous seizure can occur triggered by a myriad of things like stress, insomnia, foods, strobe lights and other medications. The worry of thwarting a seizure can prompt anti-social type behaviors, depression and spur of the moment changes etc. Yet pain med withdrawal symptoms also include seizures, weight loss, flu-like symptoms, and shakes etc. We will just never know...and maybe that's how Prince wanted it...maybe he crawled to the elevator so he could be found there..did he know? Doubtful. He was a man accustomed to beating the odds...hope he has peace now.

I find the chefs story very interesting. I happened to take a friend who is a Nurse to the show in Oakland, March 4th. She (The Nurse) had never seen Prince in concert before. When Prince walked out to perform, the first words out of her mouth was, " He looks sick". I paused for a minute and told her "yes, he doesn't look the same." I think the chef's story is accurate.

I had a friend die from AIDS back in the early 90s. Actually, it wasn't AIDS that killed him, but complications from conjunctivitis that ended up taking his life. His immune system was completely compromised, so that a small infection was huge for him. I've also worked with HIV + individuals, and they can go through life with little to no symptoms when their CDC count is high. It's when their CDC starts to fall that trouble starts, and when it gets below (I believe) 500, is when they are diagnosed with AIDS. End stage AIDS, Prince would not have been able to perform that concert at all. Also, if it were complications from a related condition due to AIDS, he still would not have been able to perform in Atlanta. He would have been hospitalized and on anti-biotics through an IV to help boost his immune system. It's not AIDS, y'all.

I've known a few musicians. They can't stop. The music is in them and it doesn't matter how poorly they feel, they will perform, because it's who they are, the music is a part of them and has to be expressed. That is extremely true of Prince. He is music and he would never have been able to stop performing, no matter how ill he became.

It would be really be sad it involved a regular old flu. But I keep thinking my last cold hung on off and on for over a month, that had never happened to me before. Many people this year seem to be experiencing these long term colds and flus this year. Its freaking me out the banter that was going on back and forth here on the org preceding this.

Why is unlikely he was HIV +? I mean he likely had sex with hundreds, maybe a few thousand women. The guy was a feakazoid in his prime. Plus the weight loss, the "flu", sore throats, compromised immune system, death at 57, etc. etc. It's entirely plausable. The thing that makes me think not is that not even TMZ has gone there. They are sickening but usually contain some truth. The National Inquirer? Not worthy of toilet paper. Everybody dies of aids if you believe them. They said the same thing is Bowie but it just didn't get this kind of traction.

I don't think that Prince died for us whatsoever. Prince loved what he did, and even those that knew him and were part of his band, have said many times, how much of a perfectionist and hard worker he was, doing rehearsals for hours, not wanting to stop. How many have said that he worked on music constantly? Prince did what he did because it was what he was born to do, music was all he knew.

^^Yes! Music was his salvation and true form of prayer. It was how he related/communicated to the world and God. Music was his happiness. It's nice to know he was able to give his fans a great show right before he left us. It's almost like he died doing what he liked to do...

I have come to accept that it was some terminal illness. As a fan, I find some peace in this and it angers me that the media is making him out to be a druggy when he was not. The film that is curculating of clips from the Atlanta show and his final official photo clearly show an emaciated and frail Prince, who was already a tiny human being. He was a dying man who might have taken some drugs to get him through his last days. I love and respect him for this. He was so brave. For him tobe able to deliver those shows in Atlanta while he was dying shows how great he truly was.

Amen, I concur with this, it shows his tenacity, and determination to enjoy his life even in the midst of pain and suffering.

His spirit was just as relentless and resilient as ever.

AIDS leads to no food, the thought of dying leads to no sleep, and opiates helps the body to get relief. The combination of the three could've taken Prince's life that evening. It's so sad. 😥
