Question about the Piano and a Microphone tour/Atlanta show

Hey guys

Does anyone know what the music played over the PA before the show started was? artist/album, etc?

Also, was the Atlanta show videotaped? in which case can we hope for a DVD release?

Hope all of you are doing better...I slowly am...

A.

There wasn't any music played over the PA system before the show started. I remember that for sure, because I never liked when Prince did that and would rather just have no music before the show starts. So I was pleasantly surprised about that and it stuck in my mind.

.

And the show wasn't professionally recorded. Maybe they had a camera at the soundboard or far away but certainly wasn't any cameras anywhere near the stage. I doubt we are going to get a release of this show for a long, long time, if ever, considering the disarray of the estate with no will. But at least there are some good audience recordings of both shows out there.

.

you mean the instrumental piece? it's called "Confluence" and was iirc on the memoirs of a geisha soundtrack. not a prince song/composition.

Thanks.

I remember in Montreal there was a lot more that was played...as if he wanted to get us in the mood for One Nite Alone with Prince...

I wonder if any of the Piano shows were professionally filmed. I guess a DVD would have some commercial success given the circumstances..

Ok I took that to be part of the show, but I was curious what that was from too.

I think the best chance of taping were the big shows in Perth and Oakland where there were screens. Can anyone who attended either of those shows confirm whether camera footage was being shown on the screens?

There's a short clip of him singing Nothing Compares - the line about "I went to the doctor and guess what it told me, guess what it told me.Said, "Boy, you better try to have fun no matter what you do.
But he's a fool". sad

the atlanta show was recorded by someone. There is a 6 min vid of it and shows him apologising and doing the bit above from nothing compares. He actually says prince not boy.

The music although not intentional ..i hope...was really sad and gave this feeling of inevitability and closure and just general loss. I hope that isn't why prince chose it.

He smiles a little when he delivers the line about the doctor. In hindsight it looks as if he knew.

Confluence was played over the PA for 2nd Oakland Paramount show. So glad to know where it originated from. Yes I was at Paisely and saw cameras filming show.

I'm very surprised that we haven't seen a bootleg CD release of this yet. It seems that even Eye Records/Silverline have some kind of conscience...

I can't believe there is so little video circulating...P's security must've been tight. This would make a great posthumous release...I'm sure it was professionally shot.

I'll be very surprised if we see an official release of this over the next few years or if at all, bearing in mind the circumstances that followed the show.

There is an audio only of the show online. I listened to it for the first time last night. I thought I would be OK and I was for most of the show until the end when he played Snow and Purple Rain. I absolutely loved the Love the crowd showed him.

I loved that intro he used from Geisha - it sounded so amazing at the Sydney Opera House because of the wonderful acoustics in there - it was mezmerizing.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Wow, that piece is beautiful! Interesting choice as confluence means an act or process of merging.
