why is Paisley Park so dull looking on the outside?

you would think with Prince's creativity Paisley Park would have looked much cooler than the way it does on the outside...it looks like a white warehouse

I think it's pretty solid though. For a building from the 1980s I think its nondescript look helps keep it from looking really outdated. Maybe he wanted to draw less attention to it as well, though everybody's obviously known it as a landmark for years.

Tastes of the times, I always thought it looked like a poor man's Getty Center. Just read his architect was right out of school, looks that way to me.

I don't dislike it myself. I might have a drive past on Google Earth and see what the area is like...always hoped I'd go there one day but it never happened.

I actually have always liked the architectural style from the outside. I think in the simplicity, it can withstand time with not having a date stamp so to speak.

I have never been to Paisley Park. I can only imagine the interior. I have seen photos of the studio, but I am sure in person is better.

I knew a bassist who recorded there, said he saw Prince but didn't say anything past "hi" to him, said he didn't want to bother him. Anyway, bout a month ago, i was telling my brother of my crazy dream to build my own studio close to paisley park, thinking it was out in the cornfields, that I could build close enough to see the place for inspiration. My brother looked at me to see if I was serious, then he said "if you do that, you'll do that shit on your own". I was serious but since I saw my brother was getting freaked, I upped the ante. I said "no, I want to buy four plots of land and use them to build a tower directly over Paisley Park, hell, prince doesn't own the air." Well, serious or joking, it'll never happen now.

It was, afterall, primarily a studio - a place where work got done. When it was built, it wasn't intended to be a museum or any other type of public space. So, there was really no reason for it to be an architectual spectacle.

I think the white palette makes it interesting, especially at night where you can be creative with the lighting :)

The white palette also makes it a breathtaking view against the pure white snow.

I got snipped for saying Paisley Park looked tacky on the inside. I'm confused. I honestly believe that. It's a valid opinion. I'm not sure I understand how it's okay to express a dislike for certain songs/albums/eras/outfits/whatever but interior design choices are off limits. This place is weird AF.
