I Don't Care How Prince Died

There has been and will contunue to be so much specualtion as to the cause of Prince's death. Yet what I learned from the passing of my father who also died suddenly, is that no answer really helps.

It feels like it will, but once you do know, you're still left with the loss.

At first I was really interested in how Prince died (and of course as a fan I will want to know) but it won't change the grief and it won't bring him back.

So I'm trying not to postpone grieving while waiting for the news, and trying to focus on the way he lived; how much joy his gifts have given me, how much they still do.

Cheers, friends.

Many of us do care. In my honest opinion, it is in the best interests of the Prince legacy and for his fans for the official Autopsy results to be released when it is appropriate to do so.

There is much speculation going around, and the only real way to put a stop to that is to be open and forthcoming with the truth. For most fans, including myself, having honest and openly available answers will provide some closure and allow us all to focus back on the music legacy and art he has left behind for us to enjoy.

Can I just rant/rail for a minute? Please forgive me. If I hear another person mention that Prince died of a drug overdose I AM GOING TO EXPLODE! If it were, I am 100% positive it was accidental -he took some pain pills, feel asleep, forgot what time he last took some, accidently mixed some sort of Tylenol with it or something - it wouldn't have been intentional. IF...IF... it was perscription pain pills for whatever was ailing him, it was ACCIDENTAL.

Other than that, I can only imagine that it was a storm of ailments culminating in organ shut down

From what I've read, walking pneumonia can - although rare - can cause a heart episode.

The way he died won't effect his legacy.

Sam Cooke was murdered.
David Ruffin from drug abuse.
Kurt Cobain from suicide.
Michael Jackson from prescription drug overdose.

We may be looking at the Jimi Hendrix route.

Well, I do want to know. It is of interest to me as a fan of over 30 years. I learn from not only my heroes mistakes but also family and friends. I think another topic that probably won't be discussed is how we treat our heroes and why they may not want to get any help because everyone sees them as gods or they just don't want their business out there. Lots of interesting things to consider. No matter what it is, it'll come out somehow. Elvis' autopsy is sealed but whatever they tried to hide did no good, everyone knows it's part and parcel of his drug use, whatever the results.

To be fair, officials will actually accompany the word accidental with overdose. They won't say addiction unless they had some type of proof. The term is accidental overdose
No matter the ©️, Paisley Park "official can never ™️ prince. He gave that to us verbally on Oprah in 1996. You can't take prince away from us, corporate. I mean O ( + >

Taking it a little further - if he fell into deep despair and stopped caring for himself it's still 'accidental overdose.' I guess my point is that's how he may have passed but not necessarily why. I hate to think it's true but by many accounts his spirit sounded broken since Vanity passed.

I care because this was entirely avoidable and an absolutely ridiculous way to go. He deserved better.

i don't know about that theory, where did you read he was that heartbroken over her? I don't claim to know but it has been over thirty years, he's been with many other women and also, he's never let thing break him. We're talking about a very strong person here. When his son died, he still showed nothing but professionalism and discipline (and was badly chastised for this by many). I just don't get it, to my knowledge, the only thing i could maybe see is him feeling guilty for her getting involved with a lifestyle she couldn't handle. we don't know. I do know sinatra laid on the floor when he was told Ava Gardner died, I know that it would kill me if my unrequited love died, who knows, maybe you're right, maybe that was the love of his life.

No one is in a position to cast judgement on him regardless, we all have skeletons and private demons we wrestle with throughout our lives - And I imagine they are that much more intense being a celebrity.

I have done so much crazy shit in my life including drugs and booze that I am shocked I made it past 25, really pure luck of the draw. I think its certainly accidental, and quite a shame, if things keep going the way they seem, that he couldn't/wouldn't get any help to manage his demons.

I also hope they concentrate on and punish the quack or quacks that supplied/enabled him, if such turns out to be the case as it seems it will. True, a grown man is responsbile for his own actions, but that doesn't cover anyones ass if they were illegally supplying him with dangerous meds.

Yes this is what I am thinking and I'm scared to think that maybe he could have called 911 and had been saved, but he didn't want the publicity or risk the call getting out, etc. That would be the biggest tragedy ever.

His chefs said that he had been sick for cold and flu for months. That is very depressing when your quality of life is hurt that way and you have to live like that for an extended period of time. And even worse for Prince who is so driven and wants to be moving and doing shows and recording music, etc. So I'm sure he was depressed..if nothing else, your brain is part of your body and if you are sick, your brain is in a tired state as well as the rest of you.

Normally when someone famous dies (if it's not immediately obviously) I want to know why e.g. Amy Winehouse.

Different case entirely with P. I didn't want to know at all initially. But with all this speculation it's better alround to get an official cause.

Not to be pedantic but when it comes to someone's death, facts are very important. MJ died as a victim of involuntary manslaughter. He was unlawfully killed by a doctor and that doctor was sentenced to prison. All I hope for in Prince's case is that people and the media stick to the facts.

Yep. There are five death classifications put on death certificats: homicide, suicide, natural, accidental, and undetermined. Michael Jackson's death was ruled a homicide.

I definitely care how Prince died. I just need to know. But, I can wait. I hate all the speculation.

Absolutely - my thought wasn't unrequited love, so much as responsibility. Maybe he felt some bit of responsibility for her suffering. If he was already struggling to keep his spirits up due to illness, etc., this might have just been a tipping point.

Latest media mentions four 911 calls from 2013 until the last. He has been hurting excruciatingly for a very long time, possibly for a decade. Did his brother Duane help him get the painkillers? I would like to know.

I feel exactly the same way. After having several family members pass over the last couple of years and the sudden passing of my oldest friend (as sudden and mysterious as Prince) I find that know why someone dies is no panacea for the loss. I still do not know why my friend died and probably never will, but it doesn't matter. She is gone...and life goes on. The same goes for Prince, whose passing opened wounds that had not yet healed. It's time to remember all the good in his life and what it means to us...and not dwell on how he passed on.

I don't care because it's none of my business, and it won't change anything. Except for the purpose of perhaps gaining some knowledge in the practice of medicine and managing the use of opiates and the care of patients who take them (and their caregivers, which is an important piece).

I respect the fact that you care, especially since you are in the medical profession. It makes sense. We will all get through this in the best way that helps us cope. hug

well, couldn't they get an autopsy? how could it be so mysterious? Usually, the people i've known who've died, did most of the damage themselves through lifestyle and it was always pretty obvious how they died.
