First Run Purple Rain Demo

I have a copy of the demo where Prince is teaching his band "The Revolution" how to play Purple Rain... It was before he even had all of the lyrics finished. He is basically talking them through it. It came from one of the band members that just happen to have tape rolling at the time. I think it is now a one of a kind. Just checking to see if anyone else has ever seen it surface anywhere else?

They just played it on the Chaz & AJ radio station the other day, 99.1 WPLR / 95.9 The FOX.

.

The radio show is video taped, and it's online to watch & listen to, on YouTube. Look for user ProducerEdWPLR on YouTube. There's an interesting tidbit before the demo starts, but they play it around the 1:37 mark.

It's on a boot called White Girls Rehearsal. Excellent quality boot.

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

I think it is a shame that some things get put out on bootlegs.... Some recordings should be kept sacred to only those who have a direct link to them and are willing to keep them personal and private.

Me thinkks you're just upset that it's no longer "now a one of a kind" as you put it.

I don't thing that Prince would every have approved of that recording being on Youtube. It was not meant for that.

wait? So you post that you have it... and you learn that it was know for years and then you do not like that it was not kept private?

as to this...this is an important bit of music history.
