Yes there are certainly some that are up there. All My Dreams leaps to mind. And Electric Intercourse and most likely quite a few others. . But yes I agree that the Vault songs are probably a little overrated. He did mainly release is best stuff, but there are some gems in there for sure. [Edited 4/29/16 19:39pm]

If Crystal Ball is better than Beautiful Night, then I can't wait. Although the live version of Beautiful Night from the SOTT tour far surpasses the album version.

the music he recorded with Sheila between 1983 - 87 is what I want to hear. anytime Sheila is on the track its always something special. That Toy Box demo is killer

I would love to see a "committee" of musicians and music critics/writers to be put together to explore the contents of the vault and be involved in a controlled and considered approach to releasing material for fans.
Prince himself has said that the material in the vault consists of both finished tracks which he never found a suitable album for, right down to rough demos that he brought to a certain point and then abandoned them. It would be fair to say some of the material in the vault is poor by Prince standards and therefore should remain unreleased.
When albums are released, it should be done in a controlled and considered manner, and each album should contain music from a similar era right through so as to create coherent and consistent listening experiences.
I would also love to see 1 or 2 DVD releases of concerts. There must be some great shows from the Musicology, W2A, Hit & Run and Piano & A Microphone tours which would make for great concert DVDs for fans to enjoy.

I'd love to see a few albums of live versions of songs versus original studio versions to see how the songs evolved over time in Prince's mind.

read an interview or watched one in the haze of the last few days (maybe Larry King) and Prince said that the vault has a lot from when he was bound to WB because he would do whole albums he didn't want them to ever get their hands on and they'd wind up stashed away ** do something, before we're gone , and we're just a rock where a world went wrong...**

Yes I agree. But I think even moreso the 1980s music that wasn't released was because he just had too much of it and no where to go. I think by 1982 - 1986 every album released had enough unreleased stuff that could encorporate 1-3 albums during each period.
We know that some people thing that the Bsides were songs that were not as good as the album cuts. But we know that isn't the truth, there just wasn't enough space. Or they didn't work easily within the configuration or the Bside wasn't created at the time of the album release:Irresistable Bitch, Hello, La La La He He Hee for example
So yeah I'm in total agreement with U.

Well it seems U answered your own question. 1. (plus many U haven't heard) 2. your talking about your own taste, not if a song is actually good.

Back when he released Crystal Ball and Old Friends 4 Sale, there had to have been notes of what other songs in the vault he wanted to include.
There's also the fact that he recorded demos with the intent that someone else was going to sing them, as well as mentioning he had full albums that he hadn't released.
This isn't even getting into alternate versions that might be even better than what he officially released.
A lot of times tape was rolling and they were jams he was trying to get ideas from. I bet when people listen to them now, they're going to recognize bits and pieces of songs in the jams. There's probably notes left in the reel tapes and various storage media by engineers, mixers, and by Prince that they have to go through.

Even if it had, I dont think most fans would appreciate it. All these albums have a mistique, they are classics And I dont know if somebody would put cohesive albums out as they were. It´s more likely that we will have stuff like Crystal Ball, with songs from all eras mixed
