Morrissey (The Smiths) statement on Prince - typical Moz
As some may know, Morrissey has very strong sentiments regarding two issues: the eating of meat and animal cruelty in general, and the royal family. In typical Moz fashion, he found a way to praise Prince but tie it to these two issues. His fans at the Moz forum were not pleased. http://www.morrissey-solo...Prince-RIP

Although a long-serving vegan and a strong advocate of the abolition of the abattoir, neither of these points was mentioned in the one hundred television reports that I witnessed yesterday as they covered the enchanted life and sad death of Prince. The points were not mentioned because they are identified as expressions against e$tabli$hment interests, therefore we, mere galley slaves, aren't allowed to know.

As a big fan of Morrissey (the music-not so much the person Morrissey) I was curious if or what he had to say about Princes death. Moz completely ignored Bowies death because they had some issues in the past. While it was nice that he wrote something about Prince and showed some respect I found his statement totally underwhelming. He should have written only about Prince and not for the millionth time about his hatred of the royal family and about veganism. I found it a bit poor that he was using Prince for his agenda.

Oh Moz, you cheeky monkey!
Happy he acknowledged him but he cant help it. He is who he is which is still a genius and a huge figure in my life (just not Prince level but pretty damn close).

Love the irony. Morrissey, of course, is well known for his anti-establishment, non-white supremacist statements (sarcasm). . Here are some of his wonderful quotes over the years: . - “If more men were homosexual, there would be no wars, because homosexual men would never kill other men, whereas heterosexual men love killing other men.” . - The song "Bengali in Platforms" (the title is offensive enough): "Bengali in platforms / He only wants to embrace your culture / And to be your friend forever." . - Obviously repentant and sensitized from the first album, his 2nd album features "Asian Rut". (Not to mention the later "National Front Disco".) . - Classy quote from 1994: "[I don't] really think, for instance, black people and white people will ever really get on or like each other. I don't really think they ever will." . - 1997: "England is a memory now. The gates are flooded and anybody can have access to England and join in." . - In 2010, Morrissey describes Chinese people as a "sub-species". Yes, he did. Here's one of numerous links:http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/se ... ies-racism . - The entirety of M's multicultural worldview was nicely summarized by the humor publication 'Cracked' on its website a couple of years ago under a subtitle, 'Accusations of Racism'. The best quote might be: "Morrissey has been accused of racism so many times that the American Nazi Party began sending him free literature in the mail." . . So, sorry, Morrissey if I don't buy your B.S. about missing Prince.
