Hi

Could anyone give me some details about Work It 2.0, V1, disc 2?

Track 10 - "instrumental #4"

When is this from?

Is that Prince on all instruments, drums too?

It's amazing

Instrumental #4 and all the other instrumentals on that disc were recorded in 1977. I think Prince is only playing keys here, Bobby Z is on drums and Andre Cymone is on bass.

Are you sure about this?

And where is this info from?

Because the drum style fits the way Prince played drums. Although maybe it's very technical advanced to be him

But he was a good/great drummer

Very recently these 1977 home studio recordings were released in very good quality. I think the 3rd instrumental was later used on the Girl6 album. Had to look it up, but he used the melody for She Spoke to Me.

To be honest I'm not good enough at listening to drums to be able to differentiate between who might be playing here, but my info comes from a PDF of Uptown's The Vault book that I have, here's a picture of their log for the details of this session.

Ok. Sigh, I just told a friend "Prince plays ALL the instruments!"

Figured, from that time period it would be him alone.

Guess not. But it still sounds awesome.

Really great drumming and jamming there
