UK Fans - Please make Purple Rain No. 1 !! Hi all,
Prince fan in the UK here. The first time I saw him was at the 21 Nights tour at the O2. I wasn't much of a fan but after the first show I was hooked!
I ended up seeing him another 4 times and then the last time was at the Hop Farm Festival which was out of this world!
So I am hearing Prince will hold the top 5 album sales here in the UK. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news...s-36128075
Purple Rain is likely to debut at no. 2 in the singles charts and likely to smash the 8th position it got when it was first released.
Prince has had very few number ones here in the UK and not as appreciated compared to the US.
So this is a calling to all Prince fans....PLEASE do everything you can to get Purple Rain the single to get to no.1 this weekend.
As a tribute that would be pretty amazing......I have very few friends who are fans of Prince and at the moment having a hard time coming to terms with his loss and also getting tired of explaining to my colleagues why he was so amazing, but each to their own.

I bought Purple Rain (the song, not the album) on Saturday, thinking it would impact the singles charts on Sunday. Apparently, the charts are now compiled for Friday, and not Sunday! I really had no idea. I guess that's just another sign of getting old... So, my purchase will count towards this Friday's chart. It's the album cut of Purple Rain that is proving popular. I would do and will do but can someone explain what one i buy to make this happen? There are multiple ones's from different albums and how does the iTunes album make it to No. 1 - sorry out of touch.

Just looked up the Offical Chart Eligibility...see page 4 in the linked document. http://www.officialcharts...h-2015.pdf Basically any version of Purple Rain the single will work, or digital download. One of things that go against Prince is that the UK Chart also includes any live streams e.g Spotify. Obviously none of his music is on regular streaming services so ever more importnat that you buy the CD or a digital download. Thanks all. | |

I'm not sure how often they update the website, or if it's just on Friday??
Interestingly there's a bad cover of The Most Beautiful Girl in the World at 84, by a band called Purple... have people been buying the wrong version!?

PURPLE RAIN THE SINGLE HAS UNTIL MIDNIGHT TONIGHT IN THE UK TO GET MORE SALES AND BE COUNTED FOR FRIDAY'S CHART.
WE HAVE 10 HOURS AND 10 MINS OF SALES LEFT TO GO.
