Hit 'n run phase 2 hits the shops Amidst all the sadness I'm happy that I can buy his new music. Brussels' fnac store just started selling them. The HQ-er formerly known as krokostimpy.

.
Ugh that album is so weak that hate to have people buy it and be so disappointed. I mean I cherish any Prince album at this point, but just not something for casual fans to get and expect the glory days. .

Honestly, he's made far worse and this album is fairly enjoyable. And I was only talking for myself... it's sort of a consolation that after he's gone I can still get his new CD (not just the download). Of course the casual fans and Star-is-dead-fans will go for the compilations, Purple Rain and maybe SOTT. That's all fine by me. The HQ-er formerly known as krokostimpy.

Ha the joke is on me! I'm also in Belgium but ordered the album on Amazon (UK) and have to wait at least one more week. But I've already heard the album and I think it's better than Phase One. . Glad to hear you're enjoying the album.

well out of his 4 last releases AOA was the best for me, followed by Phase 2, than PlecElec and Phase 1. gonna give Phase 1 another spin right now btw

Give it another spin, maybe it'll grow on you. I kinda like it.

I prefer phase one more as well. I, still may pick up phase two, eventually. "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

Just got mine delivered from Amazon. Bittersweet knowing it was the last album released while he was alive. My wife and I played this on a 3-hour road trip last Friday. She'd never heard it, and she loved the whole thing…although she did say that a few songs were a bit too long.

I prefer Phase One over Two but the second one is worth the price of admission just for Groovy Potential.

HitNrun Phase 2 is actually a strong collection of songs -- but as the title indicates, it's more a well sequenced collection than a capital A Album.
For the capital A Album, see AOA.

I went to FYE on Friday to cop it. They had it...for $18!!!! No way, baby! So, I went to Best Buy, Target and Walmart. No one had it in stock. They hadn't sold out. They simply didn't have it in stock, which was really surprising. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I agree that P2 is just random songs put together well. There's no real vision on it, or story to tell, as a whole. A few of the songs we've certainly heard before, and have been out for a minute. And it is nice to have them on CD, rather than a crappy download. I tend to enjoy some of those songs more than the things on P1. . I am intrigued by the story of "Baltimore"'s orchestration, and him finding a new sound. It's always morbidly poetic when someone is on the cusp of something really new and exciting, then they're yanked away. (I think of This Is It with MJ, and Whitney's comeback.)

FYE is the worst at pricing and frankly price gouging. I remember walking into a Record Town back in 2002 or something, and every single price tag on a CD was $19.99. They had hiked up their price by at least $4 on 99% of the inventory. I shop for used stuff there only, if I go there at all. completely agree with this statement. i think prince fans have a problem when it comes to "rating" albums. they tend to over rate it or under rate it.
personally his last 4 albums i agree AOA is the strongest indeed. there is a concept, reminds me of lovesexy, excellent concept that flows together, not as strong as lovesexy obviously but sounds a lot more organized than the hitnrun albums.
