It's surreal to see pieces from my modest collection going for hundreds+thousands of dollars. I'm afraid to leave jewel cases for CDs in my car because someone might actually break in to get them.

I did a search of sold items and even basic Purple Rain vinyls are selling for $40-150. $100 for The Gold Experience on CD. A PR cassette sold for $10. $50 for Emancipation. That kind of sucks because I can't find my Emancipation CDs anywhere. The original Purple Rain shirt, the pale purple with doves, sold for over $200. I'm not seeing anything ending in the thousands, though.

If the casual fan doesnt know the actual value of the over-inflated items theyre buying.. I dont really feel sorry for them... because the buyer is probably trying to cash in just as much as the seller.

And everyone who hiked up Bowie's clear vinyl ✭ still have them sitting there for $300-500. No one's going to buy that. They'll wait for it to come down, because it always does.

Most of the people buying this stuff are casual fans...... only knowing the hits. The true "Prince family" is just sitting back, watching the show, and feeling sad. I know I am.

Piano and Microphone Tourbook ebay auction is up to $360 with only a few days left. But I get that one, because it's the only one listed on ebay and they are somewhat rare, only being sold at one or two shows.

.

And the WB Black Album CD is going for a lot too...over $100, I think.

Hmm I wonder how much they're selling the UTCM dvd for now. When I bought it years ago it cost me $5 on Amazon. I still have it. I also have Controversy and Parade on CD. I was planning on selling them years ago but now I'm grateful that I didn't because I couldn't bear with it.

It is quite tempting to sell some things. I see the Crystal Ball 5CD set currently sitting at £155 (~$230) and I know I have two of those in a box in my loft, one of them still sealed, for example.

It could be a great time to sell my 16 track Gold Nigga CD.

These past few months I was thinking of buying albums I don't have on CD (I really REALLY want Dirty Mind and Gold Experience) and I wanted to get a Prince shirt but now idk eek

Do you guys think any major retail stores will be selling Prince shirts? I know Hot Topic has David Bowie shirts so I'm guessing it won't be long till P's might pop up but I don't know.

The prices are crazy. I saw a Black Album CD sell for £100. I've got one somewhere in the loft.

I am particularly frustrated as the only real hole in my collection is the Crystal Ball albums but there is no way I can afford current eBay prices. I've been a fan for some 30 years.

Perfectly ordinary 1994 Black Album on vinyl currently on £107 with 17 bids and 3 days to go.

eek

Gold Experience vinyl also currently sitting at slightly over £100, with days to go.

I saw the Purple Rain/UTCM/Graffiti Bridge triple did set for $150. I paid $9 for it 3 years ago. It's madness.

It does make me feel sad though, I've been slowly building up my collection over the last decade and now that things I don't have are simply unaffordable. Give it time and I think they will go back down soon enough

Well some of us have some material possessions that we no longer need or enjoy as much as we get older, and also there is something called food and shelter that costs $, so this is probably a good time to sell some items that you don't need and have them go to a better home where they will be more greatly appreciated.

I had bought a ton of Prince boots in the few weeks before his death, and they cost no more than 20 bucks each, but now the same ones are no less than 50 on eBay. Quite obviously cashing in.

I also bought a bootleg vinyl on eBay for about 3 quid a few days before he died. I get the feeling the seller doesn't want to ship it to me - there's only been delays since. Shameful.

For some reason, that's always been the asking price for the last few years that I know of. Ive seen loads of CD copies at the same price also - I found mine in my local Cash Converters for 99p!

I've not really checked the "value" of Prince stuff before, but that's a surprise.

I'm relieved to see there's no bids at all for this collection of 8 boots, for £1,200.

To be honest I could do a lot of money in these weeks, lookin' at those crazy prices.

But simply I don't want it (and fortunately I'm not in the need of do it).

I collected P CDs from the 80's and the last thing I would do now is to separate from them.

That said, I don't find guilty who try with success to sell a "Very Best Of Prince" CD (to say one) for an absurd price 5 or 6 multiple of the Amazon price.

In this case, the seller is to applaude. The fool is the buyer.

I HAVE NO INTENTIONS of selling any of my Prince memorabilia but my jaw dropped when I saw the Symbol Tam for $4,700? And the price of a few other items. Money can maintain my joy and memories. I'll give my things away when the time is right. To a deep rooted fan, that is.
