The sheriff says it isn't true According to a tweet from dr. Funkenberry, the sheriff said his department didn't find any prescription drugs and the DEA isn't involved. Let's stay calm... I'm sure most of you know this from Twitter already but i find relief In this information.

That's why I don't pay attention to gossip sources that aren't fit to wipe my a$$ with.

How valid is TMZ? TMZ: Photo shows Prince leaving Walgreens pharmacy hours before death: http://wreg.com/2016/04/2...ore-death/ this is most likely an embellished article, in other words a buncha lies. I'd like it not to be true of course, however I'm not exactly reading that interpretation in the article. "Fox 9 spoke to Carver County Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud on Wednesday. He said those reports were news to him and confirmed the sheriff’s office has not yet asked for the DEA’s help with the investigation. He added that the DEA is not part of the active investigation at this time."
This contains no direct quote from the sheriff. A deputy indicates he hasn't heard of those reports (doesn't know it's been on the news, or isn't privy to the investigation?) and states they have "not yet" asked for help from the DEA, "at this time." I'm not seeing a statement that no prescription drugs were found. I'm not seeing a statement that they know the DEA won't be called because there will be no reason to called them. Even if they did find prescription drugs, even if they believe that to be the cause of death, I'm not sure why they would use the DEA unless they have reason to believe there were illegal/fraudulent prescriptions, or serious overprescribing (malpractice). Is there another story on this that I've missed, or some other reason this should be read as the blanket statement being touted?

It's just all so horrible and disrespectful, the way false information is swirling out of control for the sake of 'first to report' with these news outlets. I am so disgusted with how they are handling this, so I am trying not to watch any of the news stations reporting about him. Really very sad how some in the media and the newspapers are doing this. I hope his family can take some action to stop the misinformation.

I saw this morning and was so grateful for the mundane noncommercial announcement of an extremely ordinary midwest sherriffs office.

He says the reports are news to him - which is not the same thing as saying that the reports aren't true. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

What I do know is that if the autopsy showed Prince died of, let's say, a brain aneurysm, law enforcement wouldn't have requested a search warrant, they wouldn't have asked that it be sealed, a judge wouldn't have agreed to seal it, and there wouldn't be an "active investigation."

Hmm. I can accept that they might have requested a warrant in such circumstances. They want to be ready to move if foul play suddenly comes to light, for example. However, are you saying that if the autopsy had shown that Prince (or any other middle-aged person) died of a brain aneurysm, that law enforcement normally continues to assign people to actively investigate the death for some indefinite period of time? Just... to rummage around?

This pretty much explains what's going on:
The Associated Press reported a Carver County, Minn., judge on Thursday sealed the search warrant for Prince's home and any evidence coming from it, according to court documents. Disclosure of the details could "compromise this law enforcement investigation," a sheriff's deputy and prosecutor said in documents requesting the action. The search warrant for Prince's Paisley Park home and studio — carried out the day of his death — was filed Thursday under seal because investigators said it would hamper their investigation if the contents were made public. So law enforcement executed the search warrant right after he died. They've been investigating since. The judge sealed the warrant when it was filed today for the reason stated above. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Okay. I was trying to figure out if you were meaning to include "this type of investigation." Sounds like not, just the search warrant.

Guys... may I suggest that the DEA *NOT* being involved strengthens the Percocet stories? Why have them involved if they knew what Prince was taking, and who was prescribing them.

CNN reported THERE WAS drugs on him and his apt

and imo there is an underlying reason for the warrant issued. now cop, dick and sherry can come and go with free reign to touch every area of Prince' estate. and it's not unheard of that the law officials can take what they wish w/out obligation to return certain property items. hopefully i'm wrong - but probably not. i wonder who is conducting the estate's warrant procedures. “Transracial is a term that has long since been defined as the adoption of a child that is of a different race than the adoptive parents,” : https://thinkprogress.org...fb6e18544a
