Thanks for all the perspective. Something to think about. It's all overwhelming. The entire situation.

The best way to grieve this loss is to watch those live performances he was remembered and highly praised for. I have not found any better way.

Now that I think about it, I sorta do. But hey, I've seen some pretty cool stuff lately. I saw this performance of "Nothing Compares" that I don't ever remember seeing before. Prince looked like Jesus in it with long hair and a purple drape robe and Rosie Gaines was in it too. It's from the Rave era. He looked real good in that era nod

I believe it's from the Rave Un2 The Year 2000 dvd. Beautiful version!

Haha I knew it must not be that rare since it looks like such a professional recording but I still had never seen it before. Beautiful indeed smile

I wonder how much the DVD is selling for now though? Just when I was gonna start to save up money to buy Prince stuff and then he goes away and now it's the worst time to be shopping for his stuff duh

Not at all. People want and need to see and hear him again. It's a good feeling knowing that a lot of people are discovering what we as fans have been enjoying for years, almost simultaneously.

I felt a little guilty at first , but the 86 birthday show which has now gone again helped me so much the first few days of his death. Him smiling , laughing cool dancing> How much is that doggie in the window smile

the thing that would make me feel worst right now would be for this man to not be honoured to the extent he deserves, to that end I want the youtube views sky high and showing up for kids all the world around. I understand how he *generally* felt about covers but those are in a different context now, Prince's live performances cannot any more be detracted from but to hear all these diverse artists doing tribute versions of his tracks schools people the world over who thought Prince could be dismissed, I have to LOL and cynics in comments sections on news articles who disparage him ask them to name 10 artists they like who actually sell lots and bingo, one of em wouldn't have gone into music without prince, a couple might have based tunes off one of his hooks and some of the others just adored the guy!

OH and prepare for the poison dear fans, it will come, prince had hundreds of proteges , rivals , band members and collaborators and people will be having thousands thrown at them to say anything to tear the guy down. I saw the first one tonight from an anonymous woman being spread around but wont reference the bullshit in it

Not at all. One of his biggest complaints was that YouTube didnt pay what he thought it was fair. Since money is not an issue now, I am happy that finally people will have access to some of his greatest songs and see how such a great live artist he was

I can't feel guilty about that, because the only one to whom I paid respect for in avoiding stuff like that was Prince. He felt it was in his best interest, financially (and probably legacy) to not allow that stuff. Now that he can't be hurt by that stuff being there, I will watch it. I don't care if his sister is hurt financially by it because I have no love loss for her. She has never had Prince's best interest in her heart.

Then gimme the Electric Chair.

Hopefully it will make some new New Power Generation members.
