I went. I had alot of fun with the other fans. There was laughing, crying, singing.... we had a good time. I'm so glad I went on Saturday.

I'm going tomorrow. if it turns out to be a good experience, which I expect it to be, I might go again on Sunday if tickets are still available. I hope to talk to other fans afterwards. I don't expect to see anyone I know personally. it would be great if some of us fans would get together on a semi regular basis locally

don't let your fear of crying in public stop you from going imo

This Friday it expands into 200 AMC theatres; it's said it had the highest percentage of sold out shows for AMC last weekend.

I seriously thought about it but decided I didn't want to put money in WB pocket.

In NYC every summer Havana Outpost plays it so that is the one I will attend as usual. Plus time will have past so maybe I can get through without crying.

I am very torn about this. It is definitely a cash grab, but I've never seen it in the theater and we love to see it surrounded by folks who love him as much as I do. It's not playing in my city either, so I'd have to travel a little bit to get there.

I saw it in Chicago last Saturday. I did pretty well through most of it - only got a little misty on The Beautiful Ones. But I lost it when he started singing the high "oooo"s on Purple Rain. It was still wonderful to see it on the big screen again, though. First time since the 7 times I saw it in 1984 (though I've seen it on TV and DVD).

They are playing it in Millenium Park in Chicago this summer. A bunch of us are going. I am waiting for that.

I went last night in NYC. The theatre was maybe 15% full.

I was surprised, honestly.

When it was briefly re-released last year, or whenever the anniversary was, I went to a midnight showing on the Lower East Side and while the theatre wasn't full, there were more than yesterday. ANd the audience was way more involved. Some of that involvement was openly laughing at the bad dialogue/other elements, and I suspect that didn't feel appropriate this time, so the audience was mostly quiet except for loudly applauding the musical numbers.

There was at least one person in the theatre who hadn't seen it - could tell by their very surprised reaction at a certain scene.

I would go if they were showing it here in the UK. But I think the places that may show it are few and far between. And likely not anywhere near Preston. Think I would Defoe cry. But it'd be good to grieve a little with others. The Internet has helped but it has felt lonely not being around other fans.

Me and an old school friend, both of us got into Prince around "1999", are going to watch it here in Manchester. It's going to be emotional.

Re: UK screenings, there's a couple here in Manchester, and a fair few in London as far as I know.
