Anyone here hasn't felt yet that Prince is gone?

I watched a Bootsy Collins interview earlier and he said something that really resonates and reflect my feelings on Prince's passing. He said something like "I haven't felt it yet, that he's gone, so I don't feel anything yet," or somewhere along those lines.

Exactly my thoughts. I feel that Prince is still very much alive and he's just around.

It's very different with MJ's death. Back then I knew that MJ's gone and I felt it right away-- no more MJ.

Is it possible that Prince's fanfare-free exit (no public press conference, no display of the body taken out of his home as was MJ, no public service, cremation, etc) helps in creating an illusion or a feeling that he's still very much alive?

Thoughts?

I'm coming to terms with it, BUT I think it will really hit me after I go a year or two without there being new Prince music to listen to. I'm not talking about vault releases, if we're lucky enough to get those, but new, fresh music with new band members, concepts, etc. Couple that with the reality that there will be no more live shows. I only ever saw him live once, during the Musicology tour. (The first time he performed in my city in decades.) While he almost never came to my town, there was always the hope that he'd throw a concert near enough to me. Now that hope is gone.

Yeah, it will be awhile before I actually realize he's gone for good. I'm still in denial. sad

Great thoughts from Bootsy. The story of Prince getting thrown back into the audience after running onto the stage of Bootsy's concert was an eye opener. What did he mean by the pianoand a microphone was Prince's last tour? He seemed to be asking it as a question, but I wonder where he got that notion from.

I am coming to accept it, but still seems unreal. I almost forget sometimes and then I remember and it's a big shock.

I've been crying a bit, but still it feels like it hasn't completely sunk in yet.

I suppose that's because I have always worshiped him from afar....

So far I've just been seeing videos of him left and right, listening to his music the same way I did before; even just being away from my family that cried and mourned together and not having anyone else to be with means that I haven't cried yet. I felt sad as I heard the news but I haven't even cried yet besides a few tears here and there. I feel terrible but I know I'm going to break down in like a month when it really barrels into me like a train of emotion. I feel like I'm completely denying that he's gone.

Prince was so spiritual it's not possible for him to be gone.

I find it easier to just be angry with him right now. If the MF wasn't sleeping enuff or not resting when he was sick when he should have been taking care of himself then he deserves my anger. For now.

I'd never heard Bootsy speak about Prince before and couldn't take for granted the notion that their paths crossed much, despite P's association with his fellow funkateer, maestro George Clinton--very cool to hear his comments (and laugh about that stage incident)! I'm in awe that he's so admiring of Prince and humble in his own regard--another well-centered Midwesterner!

>

I think that Mr. Spacebass might have slipped his language and meant to say that Prince's "last" tour was his latest, 'cause nobody knew that our man was about to make the big step-off--I really don't think it was even on P's mind beyond some natural worry. All the talk about Prince having premonitions of dying soon is a bunch of conjecture that I won't believe disbelief ; I declare such-seeming lyrical content or speech as random coincidence! That's my thought and here's my additional interpretation: The man was feeling his age lately and coming to terms with that and whatever associated difficulties he may have been experiencing. I'm afraid that he wasn't as strong and resilient as he thought he was at his most vulnerable moment, and I'm wishing that there was somebody with him in that big building that night--*CUSS* Anger rising...

>

Recognition of the reality is going to land hard when--like others have said--the new bands stop showing up in promos; there are no more Paisley Park sightings; no more photos with him strolling out with a brand new doll or riding around town on his bike; pictures in all the outfits we've already seen; and many various realizations that will keep piling up until we have no choice but to accept his physical absence and submit to the tributes.

>

But just like Bootsy is feeling, at the same time he'll still be around, definitely in spirit. star

We never saw MJ's for a long time either.I felt MJ up until September. Then I think his spirit moved on after the private Funeral.I still feel Prince. I have a feeling he will be lingering with us at least through most of June.We will see.I still feel him though. It still hurts all the same.

I didn't until I went to the tribute at the Brooklyn Bowl O2 Arena Saturday night. They did a special showing of Purple Rain followed by a three hour DJ set.

Gathered with all the other fans there, I felt it during Purple Rain at the films climax ... it was like he was saying goodbye. Found out couple of hours later that his cremation was taking place pretty much at that exact moment.

And then of course it was followed by I Would Due 4U and Baby I'm A Star, and it was like "Ok, I've said goodbye, now I want you to be happy and celebrate me". So we all got up and danced our asses off!
