Either cash in your chips or pass it along to someone who will appreciate your collection. If anything happened to any of us, that music will just wind up in some box being sold for next to nothing or given away.
Just because someone's posting ridiculous prices doesn't mean there's going to be any takers.

But the £20K of Prince stuff was from acutally from a fairly small part of the collection. Some Platinum and Gold discs, acatates, Parade tamborines and rare promo's, old concert posters. Other things like Picture discs, Strange Tales, Syndicate, Undertaker album, Goldnigga, 1978 Press Kit, Gett Off Birthday copy, CD's of The War, 51 Hours, MPLS, ONA, NPG singles etc. I had several copies of some, and was getting a few hundred for each of them. There were a few items that surpised me how much they went for. The Crystal Ball 5 disc puck. I had 5 spare (bought them at a London Record Fair for £5 each to give to friends but never got round to it.) and I think a got well over £100 each for them. Even The Vault Book (signed by Per) went for £400. A good fan on here bought). Holy crap. How can I be you? "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I said it before, i'm glad i bought every album before. Now it seems getting a physical copy of some of them will be impossible -unless you are rich-.
My only regret is not buying more vinyls before. I noticed many of them are out of stock now.

'Barnes and Noble' has quite a few vinyls that you can order and they will ship them to you or to the store for free pick up. I found that out when I went to reserve my copy of 'Hit N Run Phase Two' on Saturday. The sales clerk said they were getting a lot of Prince vinyls this coming Friday too. Guess who's paycheck is going to Barnes and Noble this week? Prince Rogers Nelson

My Prince CDs have their own case and it doesn't leave my house. Only Prince CDs I bring into my car are burned copies. No way I'm was going to risk losing them even when Prince was still here. They are much to valuable to me to let go. Prince Rogers Nelson

Yes, I sold all my records when CD's was the deal and I had to move to a smaller apartment. I had all his records including his #1. I have few CD's including the Black Album. Luli

If all major artists passings are any indication, after a few months the unfortunate cash in "hype" will die down and the prices will drop back to normal (or slightly more than before). So you could wait a few months and see how the prices of the vinyls are then.

When I bought the Crystal Ball 5 disc puck, I sold my 4 Disc box set version. I regret selling it as it was easier to retrieve CDs from that than the puck:-)

I'm sure people are scouring thrift stores to make a quick profit on eBay, but I'm sure there's still plenty of CD and vinyl in the "off the beaten path" shops.

I've missed a lot of work lately due to health issues and could really use the $. Looking at eBay I calculate that I could make back all that I've gotten behind and be far enough ahead to cover myself for months to come... Don't hate your neighbors.
