if you're in LA Cinespia has announced they are doing a Purple Rain presentation at the Hollywood Forever cemetery I just got my ticket . . unfortunately being an LA transplant I have no one to go with but my ex girlfriend took me to one of these in 2014 for a different movie just after they did Purple Rain the first time. She wanted to take me to Purple Rain but that was sold out.
You can get a ticket for $18 and you watch the movie on the lawn. There's some pictures on instagram of the first time it happened, it apparently turned into a dance party
I was holding out on seeing Purple Rain in hopes of them doing another presentation of it but I just saw it for the first time at an AMC theater last night. The woman next to me began crying through certain parts of it. I've actually been emailing them over the past few months asking if they'd do another one for 2016. They had said they already done it and don't have plans to do it again. I woke up today and saw an email that they had just announced it and I got my ticket right away. You can even buy onsite parking but I'll save the $15 and walk a couple blocks. I really recommend it if you're near LA. There's a great atmosphere to these screenings [Edited 4/25/16 17:43pm] | |
