i want to see a music school that continues prince's legacy of giving talent a jumpstart. picture a class that teaches mixing and recording and instruments and vocals and dance and performing, even roadie and crew work. . and all of prince's former and current colleagues could instruct. and that way staff would continue employment, only in different roles. current management could either re-form or legally re-define the objectives of whatever corporation under which prince was operating. . selfishly, as a fan i'd imagine student and/or staff concerts, interactive live performance education that would feature occasional public dance parties. student album releases and maybe even Paisley Park live broadcasts via radio and streaming. and every now and then a special seminar visiting guest superstar like sheila e. just something that would give current staff and everyone a continuing role in the Park. keep the beat going [Edited 4/25/16 18:18pm]

Combined museum, music / arts school, event center, and spiritual center. The museum should put the Bowie "IS" exhibit to shame. Play vault tracks exclusively in person. Blast concert footage all over the walls in a giant room while displaying his costumes/fashion. The school - make it a summer program that sponsors the brightest kids from challenged communities. Minneapolis is an amazing arts community. This would enhance the brand. Event center - live shows and dance parties. Spiritual center - the complex is in a very nice natural setting. Make it a retreat for inspiring mindfulness. Above all, keep the rules in place. No cell phones... drinking... bad vibes.

A Museum? It's an all singing and dancing production studio with some incredible gear! Use it for what it's made for, like any other studio. Sure have gigs with Prince-related artists, but turning it into a museum.. nah, you wouldn't see me there. The only reason for me to go to PP would be to either see P (a bit late for that), or to make music myself.. lol.
And why not release all the vault stuff? Or at least some of it.. it'd be the least that could be done to sortof compensate for the loss of the greatest artist that walked the earth during my lifetime.

I would like it to continue to be used the way Prince used it. Allow artists to record there, rent sections out, allow guests to take a tour of certain areas with a reservation and occasionally throw a surprise dance party or concert. . That would be the best way to honor his memory. Let Paisley Park be Paisley Park. [Edited 4/25/16 19:01pm]

Would the City of Chanhassen rezone it to accomodate a museum and all the traffic? If people made the journey to the area for the museum, I'd bet most wouldn't stay around Chanhassen - they'd venture out there for the day, so it's not like Chanhassen is going to benefit massively from a museum.
I know Paisley Park sort of makes sense since it was his studio, but I strongly believe that any sort of Prince museum would be better off located downton Mpls - in the long term. The hardcore fans will go anywhere. But downtown, you can pull in people who are downtown to go to other museums, sporting events, concerts, festivals, or who are in town for conventions, or who have business at UM (which isn't that far).

I'm not sure Prince would like the idea of a museum.. not that i know him or anything but that just seems to go against his spirit of not looking back. I think keeping it as a working studio for artists that prefer the whole seclusion thing, plus an event center or music academy where people are actively either learning or partaking in the beauty of some music just seems to preserve his spirit in an active as opposed to passive sense. To me it seems he would want it to keep producing something for the world instead of being the memory of what was once created there. Change it one more time..

GirlBrother said: I had hoped that it would continue as a working production facility, and as a venue for live music. Turning the place where he died into a tourist attraction, feels like dancing on his grave. Sell the property to a huge media company like Sony or even bloody Warner Bros. as a facility for movie/TV/music production. I'd be sad to see it turned into a cross between Disneyland and Tutenkhamen's tomb. I think it's in really poor taste actually. What would benefit the local economy more? How much tourism would Minneapolis expect to create if it becomes a Prince shrine? It's the mid-west, not Memphis. The climate is different for a start. I'm not saying that people don't travel to Minnesota for leisure purposes, but I doubt it has the same pull as Tennessee. Elvis fans traveling to Graceland will have other attractions to visit in Memphis. What other attractions are there in Chanhassen? Would anybody spend more than a day there? http://www.ci.chanhassen....spx?NID=31 I'm not putting down the town. Prince loved the place precisely because it's quiet. Let Paisley Park become a mid-west hub of creativity. Allow it to continue as it was. Let it live. Don't embalm the place and create a maze of velvet rope within its innards. The thought of people wearing Prince t-shirts on a guided tour of the studios and living quarters actually upsets me. I couldn't agree more, especially on your last sentence. I hope the estate manager(s) will seek advice from the folks who handled turning Elvis' Graceland into a museum. As a Memphis resident, I've been there many times and they really did things right! Fans from all over the world continue to flock to Graceland. I can't wait to visit a Paisley Park Museum!

Would not want to see a hologram of Prince, or any other person.

I love Sheila...but not trusting everthing she has been stating lately.
Personally would like to see PP as a full fledged working studio and sound stage, and have celebrations a couple times a year, similar to what he had in 2000. With acess to vault material, and new and former side acts (The Family, Morris Day, The Revolution, JIll Jones) performing, and facility tours...you know most of us would make it a tradition.

I'd like to see updated official information confirming that PP will indeed be preserved as a museum. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
