I would be totally down for that...maybe my first choice. Jam and Lewis. You know they are talented and skilled at producing and they are P fans and they are funky.

In a way, the duo and Janet, at least through 80s work if not later, are like long lost cousins to Prince though he's in his own league. The musical connection between the time and him was a match made in heaven evdm if the storm seperated them. It's never too late [Edited 4/24/16 14:05pm] [Edited 4/24/16 14:05pm]

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are both exceptional producers and above all, they are fantastic business men. . They have their heads screwed on. They would do a great job. .

Why did I have an emotional moment reading that?! This ish is hitting me in unexpected ways

Oh God.... my concern with anyone 'producing' The Vault is that they will think they have to make it sound 'contemporary', so that it will sell and 'fit in' with today's radio etc...
Then it will sound like shit...
It better not be 'contemporized' crap like that embarrassing mess 'Xscape' that Timbaland et al put together for MJ... Jesus, in that lead single, they even buried MJ's voice too low in the mix beneath those new synths etc... it was godawful.... that must NOT be allowed to happen.
Nobody needs to 'produce' the Vault... I would imagine it just needs dusting down, organising and releasing...

Just leave the material in the vault as it is. No need for "production". The material is of historical value and should be made available in its entirety for reseachers. The wooh is on the one!

Right, nothing needs to be produced. It's already produced. If anything like I would hope Eric Leeds and anyone else involved are connected with getting Madhouse music out respectfully. That Jimmy & Terry with Morris & Jesse at least, work on all that unreleased Time music . And more importantly get the O7 and they all start celebrating Prince's legacy with some shows with Sheila the Revolution the Family Brenda Jill etc

Yeah don't touch the chyt. I don't even wanna hear it if they put their own 'stroke' on it. In my opinion that would be a true travesty.

Speaking of Eric..i like what he said about Prince is not the guy to get old,,

Look at this grave robber trying to attach his name. The material just needs a final mix. Why should anyone be the producer of amterial that was probably very well put together. Music he likely completely composed by himself. It's not like he left behind half-finished work he never got around to finishing and then had samples that will be an issue to clear.
If this man wants to help tell him to get in touch with Tupac's estate. Prince's music is done. He even left behind completed albums

All the music in the vault should be kept as far away from all the Jams & all the other former band members as possible! Just because they worked with him 30 or 35 years ago does NOT mean they are the best people to handle his legacy.

They should handle stuff they co wrote and produced.

I don't imagine, he intended for anyone to "finish" the vault songs. Just my opinion - I don't see him as that kind of artist. He was all about control. And I don't think for a second that he inteded for his "last words" to be subject to other people's interpretation, control or anything of the kind.
Just look at what those "producers" made out of Michael Jackson's unreleased material. Granted, Michael used his "vault" for unfinished material to be finished at a later date. But for some reason I don't think Prince did it that way.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Why are we even being led to believe that they were not finished
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It sounds like a good idea,BUT.....I'm not sure if I want anything to be done to the songs that are already finished.I don't want the older songs to be "updated" to sound 'modern'.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
My thoughts exactly. | |

If Prince didn't think Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were good enough to produce the Time's albums, why would he want them "producing" material he left behind.
On the other hand, if Tony M wants to come back and add a verse to all Vault recordings, with Kirky J doing the remixes... that's an idea I can embrace. No Candy 4 Me

yeah well, from that bit prince said about the vault and the albums and songs in there, thrown out there a dozen at a time, is it? well maybe it is, i don't know. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Torn here. I love Jam and Lewis as much as Prince. I trust them to do a good job.... however I won't give a damn about the material if ANYONE produces it. Just like AOA.

Agreed The wooh is on the one!

Right here on the Org (I for one am planning to stay very much alive).

I think rather than one person, maybe there ought to be a team... My personal opinion, though, is that W&L ought to be asked for assistance.

Jimmy Jam was my suggestion on the other thread. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.
