NorthC said: Box sets and compilation albums are not made by former band members. The only example of that which I can think of, is the 1975 version of Bob Dylan & The Band's The Basement Tapes, which was compiled by Robbie Robertson, who added a lot of overdubs. A few years ago, the original versions were released. Without involvement from Dylan or the surviving Band members. All of Dylan's Bootleg Series are compiled, restored and produced by music archivists, not by Dylan himself or his band members. Being a musician and being an engineer are two different things. I think people like Wendy, Lisa, Levi etc could be involved providing background information, but not in producing the actual music and making it ready for release. It should be released the way it is, if possible in chronological order. The Vault vol. 1: 1978-79. Vol. 2: 1980-81. Etc etc... THIS "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Yes... I can't remember who it was now but in the 90's they said that some reels were in a bad state and they needed to "bake the tapes" and record the content to digital. They had even purchased the oven and were ready to go and Prince changed his mind at the last minute. :-/

"Hands down, he’s as remarkable a musician as I can remember ever working with. I would say he's a remarkable musician and on his best day, he was a downright brilliant — not only his instincts but the fact that he had so much music in him he wanted to get out. I'm very grateful that the years I was working with him most closely, from ’84 to ’90, I think those were probably his most creative years, and he was showing a lot of growth in his music. I was lucky to have been there at that time when he was very open to reaching out to other people, including myself and Matt Blisten and Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman. He was very open to the idea of reaching out to others in his music, which I understand he was not prone to do in his early days, and certainly I don't think he did that much in the later years as well. It was just period of time when he realized he was still growing and trying to do a lot of things. He was determined after the success of “Purple Rain” that his next album would be entirely different, and certainly the next album, “Around the World in a Day,” is very, very different, and then came “Parade,” which was the music from “Under the Cherry Moon,” and “Sign of the Times,” which I suspect most critics would look at as perhaps being his high-water mark." I couldn't agree more. "No one plays the clarinet the way U play my heart"

I never say Sheila E as being big in the area of the actual creative process. yes she sang lead/backup and played percussions, but I can see her being more as the leader of getting the bands together to do shows and such. While these others work on the material.

I think that's a brilliant idea. Anything from 1989-1999 should be in the hands of Sonny T & Michael B possibly also Mayte... From 1999-2016 Kirky J with the help of Larry Graham, josh and Hannah... "Still Crazy 4 Coco Rock"

I say both, let the crew who were there in that era do finishing touches and each release should be a two disc set, the second disc has the original demo or near finished track. ** do something, before we're gone , and we're just a rock where a world went wrong...**

The Revolution would be great to work on putting out their material with Prince. People seem to have no idea that even through the strained time W&L truly loved the man. Yes I know this from one degree of separation and am confident in saying u would have seen some kind of activity with Prince and mist or all of the Revolution had he lived... Adding new stuff no but if there truly are a couple albums finished get them out.
