Remember the Reflection Room?

Who else remembers the Reflection Room from the L4OA website all those years ago? I've found a CD I had burned of some of the tracks showcased there - 'Reflection', 'Madrid 2 Chicago', 'Don't Talk to Strangers' (Chaka) etc.

Goddamn, the CD is poor quality now though.. and some of the tracks won't burn to my PC sad

But I find myself going back to rediscover tracks like that rather than listen to endless repeats of his biggest hits.

Miss U Prince x.

I grabbed quite a few songs from there. There was a function of the Internet browser that would cache the MP3 in a temp file until the window was closed. So, it was a simple copy out of that folder.

IIRC Prince's mashup up I Feel 4 U (with Chaka's version) is from there.

yes that's right, I remember now!

Not just Prince tracks, Chaka Apollonia 6, Madhouse etc.

I don't have the digital versions any more.. just a CD I ripped them to which hasn't stood the test of time very well sad

Great memories though. That site was so good.

How does that work?

.

It's a flash module.

.

The mp3 files sit in a directory - the xml file lists the file paths. The flash module then pulls in the xml feed.

.

No more complicated than that.

.

Hope this helps.

The only thing I remember is that "Goodbye" was playing in there the week before Memorial Day 2006. I was confused because he was going to be playing in Las Vegas (Empire Ballroom) that weekend and everyone was all excited. It seemed such an odd choice - and I remember wondering what it meant at the time.

We found out later that Mani had filed for divorce that week.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
