What you said. I wonder if Prince's attorneys will still be on the case hunting these things down now that he's gone? Personally I always thought Prince should have just had his own channel with all his videos and exclusive video content. Does anyone know if his older videos were on Tidal?

I posted this somewhere else today regarding this...its bittersweet and not about what we think really.

Prince has been set free. His need for control was earthly. He has now transcended earthly concerns. Glad to see the tidal flood - but sad knowing the amount of energy he spent stopping the flood. Everyone can love him now and discover him - Im sad but relieved in a way.

He is FREE of 'what he would want' now....his estate will take care of it ...

Prince was overly concerned with the concept of 'copyright', imo.

THere is now a Prince VEVO channel on Youtube posting about a dozen of his music videos so far. It looks like official things are already happening.

I know Prince probably would not want this but I think its a good thing that his videos are being put on youtube. His legendary music will be more accessible to a new generation. The only way his legacy will endure is if generations know about his music and this will greatly help it.

One of my greatest frustrations was the way Prince limited access to his music and videos. I never quite understood it. Even now the fact that millions of people who would but can't stream his music is sad.

I think these videos are important and the world is better for having them.

I've seen so many that I never saw before and it is a joy.

A long time coming.
Especially now, people need 2 C how awesome and diverse he was, people need to see this stuff, and the award show performances and such

I'm guessing his friends, attorneys, others handling his estate have their hands pretty full right now. Clearly some things shifted with his death -- major media outlets (e.g., MTV) are posting videos they've no doubt asked to share previously and were probably denied permission.

That being said, I wouldn't get too comfortable with this. I'm guessing everything will start getting pulled within the week.

You Tube is just one medium which allows Prince to live on and on. It is wonderful for the people who never saw him in concert.

Every single album has been put out now and pretty much everything there is is being put out. Do you think thuis will be short-lived, until the Estate is sorted out or a more permament position?

This is what I posted on that other Youtube thread here in the forum:

I´d say grab´em while you can because if things go sour between the record labels and his heirs, then you may not ever see some of those videos again. Some of those concert videos didn´t even get a re-release while Prince was on good terms with WB, and in some cases the publishing and copyright is not that clear.

I understand your grief and hesitation, I have a hard time watching him , but it would be so sad if you , me , others, future generation would never get to see those gems just because of petty disputes over publishing or censorship or whatever stupid reason.

The situation is sad and bad enough as it is, with his death, uncertainty regarding the estate and whatnot.....let´s at least be able to enjoy what he DID release while he was alive.

I´ve seen pretty much every video that´s up there and own most of that stuff.

Still, my collection is scattered all over the place on various media, computers, tapes, flashdrives, etc. etc. , so having them up on Youtube, some of them in good quality, is a good thing.

It hurts to hear his voice in interviews and on stage. I am going to miss him and how he speaks a lot.

It is wonderful, I am seeing things I never knew existed and hope it continues. Now hopefully someone throws up a full version of 3 Chains O Gold.

Many younger people are very surprised and in awe of his talent, they even admit that they had no idea how talented and versatile he was.

Now imagine if Youtube videos had been allowed for the past 20 years. I think his fanbase would´ve been even bigger.
