When did he stop dancing?

When was it noted that he was no longer dancing onstage? I'm assuming this was due to the hip problems?

Don't think he ever stopped. Obvs with the piano he couldn't, it was a different show - but at least with 3rdeyegirl he was shaking his arse better than I could in my prime during Kiss and Cool to think of just two (see Cool on Crazy2cool which I think is back on Tidal mid 2014)...busting moves on Arsenio too I think when he went on that. Can't remeber vids or downloads from last year tbh.

Comin str8 outta Preston...

Thanks. I seem to recall posts here saying that he, at least, started curtailing his dancing onstage at a certain point?

To be exact, he stopped doing the splits at a certain point after 2001. At least that's my perception.

Didn't Prince have steel reinforced custom made boots so he could jump and dance without breaking a heel? Can you imagine the toll it would take to do the acrobatics he did in heels for 20 years? With the exception of playing basketball and sleeping he probably wore heels most of the time. There's been studies done on women who suffered back and foot injuries from wearing heels all the time.

He barely moved around at all on the 2016 concerts I saw, but back in 2012 on the welcome to Australia tour, Prince was dancing up a storm, okay no splits, but a lot of frenetic leg and arm work, a bit like the Michael Jackson type dancing. He was really nubile and effortlessly darting from dancing to guitar, piano and back to singing like that. He also moved around the Symbol stage a lot and was getting into the groove when he allowed people up on stage to dance.

.

By the Auckland shows in February, he walked around a bit and mounted the piano once and then spreadeagled on it, but that was the extenet of his physical activity, not that it mattered as he was blowing our minds with the performance of his many classic songs and a great assortment of new material.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

He was still dancing the Kiss breakdown throughout the 3rdEyeGirl HitnRun tour in 2014.

Watching the W2A concerts you can see him stepping on top of his piano, leaping off, spinning, running the length of the stage, dancing his steps with Shelby, dropping to his knees and er.. dancing in front of Kim Kardashian.

None of these performances look like a guy in pain or suffering issues with his joints. He's as fluid and limber as he was in the early 90s, just less choreographed. That Daddy Pop routine was insane so fair enough!

Wasn't there a great poster at that time with his silhoutte in dance poses imposed in the letters of his name? Suddenly feels massively upsetting remembering that...

even if he had joint problems. we'd never know because when youre on stage the adrenaline is flowing and you dont feel pain until the show is over ,.,,
