I was wondering as well, I remember when it was being built he would post progress reports, but then I just stopped seeing posts about it.

Last I heard it was supposed to be an eatery of sorts, but something was up with a food license - something like that. Never happened, and the building just sat there.

While it could hae probably been made into a living quarter, I'd think the main building would be more secure. Maybe even warmer.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I think the second floor of that building is his living quarters and the first floor is offices. Here is a layout of the production facilities. Those are the two higher connected buildings in the back. The larger building in front must be the recording studios and rehearsal areas.

Here's an interview with the architect who desgned Paisley Park. He was only 23 years old at the time.

http://www.billboard.com/...ect-design

Here's a quote confirming the round building as his office and home.

"(allegedly there were three beds in Prince's personal, two-story office. A round, a king and a daybed)."

To quote the article "there were skylight pyramids on top of his office" which is part of the main building...

I get the impression that was his office in the main facility. His 'personal' office was referred to separately. Maybe this was the time when he was renting the facilities and studios out to other artists and productions so he probably wanted completely separate offices when the place was busy. Just a guess.

The round building is called "The Egg." It was originally going to be a place where people could come and get food for free. I assume he lost interest and it just sat there.

I don't think the mention of a personal office is talking about a separate place, though, and there's nothing in the article referring to The Egg. The designer talks about there being a lot of beds in the office and I think this is what is referenced.

Yep, you're right. I guess the pyramids are where heis office is. From the article, it seems like he was never intended to live there. There's no talk of a kitchen or anything. Maybe one was add later. The Egg is a massive building. It's weird that it was sitting there empty all these years.

I remember interviews when Paisley Park opened. It was clearly stated that it's not a house, nor are there any living quarters on the premises. However, in the past howevermanyyears, I've no doubt that once Prince started to use it just for himself (having stopped movie companies or bands from recording there) that living quarters were eventually added.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Didn't he have two homes in the area? I remember he had them demolished and sold the properties. So was this his only residence?

There must be a kitchen, where would he have made the infamous pancakes for Charlie and Eddie? smile

In 2002, there was a celebration there, and they were giving tours, which they abruptly quit when people were rummaging through the kitchen. I was at the celebration, but arrived too late for the tours.

I also remember years ago when they were promoting PP there was mention made of an onsite Apt within the building (that could be rented, iirc) for use by artists using the studio. Perhaps this is what Prince is using now, as well.

...WAS using. Ugh.

I always wondered that too. I got a chance to be inside the main lobby area when he did the PPV Rave un2 the year 2000 party there. I saw his Grammys in a glass case, a kitchen area and got a chance to tour the upstairs. There is a studio with a hot tub inside it! At least in 1999 there was!

He had a house on Kiowa Trail, the purple house. John L. Nelson lived there until his death, then Prince tore it down.

The house on Galpin (seen in the Gett Off videos, and mentioned in "Zanalee") was the yellow house, and was very close to Paisley Park. After his divorce from Manuela, he had it torn down. The rumor was (and what a delicious rumor even if it was false), that Manuela wanted to sue him in the divorce and take the house. He had it torn down, put in 4 semi trucks, and shipped to her. Like, "You want the house? Here ya go." Whether that's true or not, I dont know. But it's a funny story.

He rented that house in L.A. (3121) for a while. I heard his house was now on Dakota Avenue, near Paisley Park. But I don't know if that's true. Different star homes tracker sites say it is his house. It's a rather non-descript house on a regular street. If he lived at Paisley Park, I don't know that he'd need another house just a mile or two away.

To my knowledge, he still owned both proprerties on Kiowa Trail and Galpin. You can still see the prince in the driveway, from Google Earth, on the Galpin property.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

maybe he had it for people like 3rdeyegirl and other folks he flew in to work with, to stay
instead of being in a hotel or something.

Could well be right. Hannah or Donna recently talked about staying in a nearby hotel during their time at PP. That could have been little mistruth for media reasons.

Or maybe it's where Kirk lives?

I think at one time the egg was converted to a facility to record music videos in but also my mind if foggy but seem to remember something about that.

For a long time since this oval building was added to the property no one would say exactly what it was. Now after his death the architect's plans have or were up for auction via Ebay.
It was a separate recording facility, with all the amenities that he had at the main building. Or at least that's what the original plans designed it that way.

The only thing that bugged me about it was that the exterior facade of it was of poor quality material. It had the same look of the original Paisley but was built with concrete or something similar to make it look of the same make, but it definitely wasn't.

100% accurate. The blue prints reveal this.

Just to clear up some confusion here. The apt is on the second floor in the back of the property where the single glass Pyramid is.
