I tried to start from the beginning of For You. I got through "Baby", and called it quits. I just couldn't bare it.
The videos on MTV, MTV2, VH1, & Centric helped later. Today I've been listening to The Current play his songs A-Z (all while missing songs, and misquoting "facts"). They missed both Rave title tracks, played both versions of "Rock N' Roll Love Affair", but missed the PE version of "Funk n' Roll". They also missed "Get Off", yet played other B-sides.
They're on the S's right now with "Style".
They're due to wrap up around 8:45pm Central. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

It was Gold, on the radio at work on Friday morning, they've been playing all the hits but Purple Rain was too much for me. I can't even think of listening to Sometimes..., I cried when he played that in Birmingham 2 years ago, don't think I can handle that.

Lars said: That was "Clouds" from AOA.... a snippet of a performance of it (do not from which TV show, anyone knows?) was shown many times on CNN on the day of his death. And then in the morning at 6am CET after sitting 8hours in front of CNN and browsing the internet for news, I suddenly needed to hear "Clouds"...

Oh gosh, if I remember correctly, the very first Prince song I heard had to be PartyMan. That music video is still my fav Prince video ”The people that will end up defining ‘Hate Speech Laws’ are the very people you don’t want to define the Hate Speech Laws” — Jordan B Peterson

One song- gold. Then that's it, and will be for some time. Can't bear the thought of listening at the moment, or reading any of the obituaries.

I put the Undertaker album on for some reason. Cranked it real loud.
Not sure why that is what I wanted hear. Though I did not listen to the song "The Undertaker".
Maybe because it rocks and was not somber. Cause tomorrow is taking too long
and yesterday's too far away and the reality that you believe in begins to bind.

'1999' for some odd reason. When the opening keyboards came in I lost it and turned it off. I later watched the Stockholm 86 show. Again for some odd reason. I have no idea why I picked those 2 things 1st. "Hey, I got the butta 4 ya muffin, honey.. I'm just 2 old 2 hold the knife!"

The song on my iPod before I heard? Something In The Water.
I was driving back to work from lunch after finding out and made the stupid mistake of turning on the radio. Technically the first song I heard after was the first bit of Purple Rain. Started sobbing and punched the radio button off like it was on fire. Couldn't handle that song yet.
It wasn't until I got close to home after work that I let the music play and honestly I don't remember which songs I listened to, I was trying not to sob while driving. I have a Tidal playlist of favorites that was set to shuffle so I know it was some of the songs I love most.
At first, I thought "ok, I'll listen to a little on the way home Thursday and that I wouldn't be able to listen to any more for a long time.
Actually it's the opposite. If I can't hear him, I start getting so choked up and teary eyed. Not to say I don't cry my eyes out to certain songs but just like always, he makes me feel so I'll take the good with the sad. I just need to hear his voice and his music, it's sad but comforting in a strange way. I feel like I'll never want to turn it off. As long as I can hear him he's still here right? Yes.
Your "he makes me feel" statement is the reason we are here. Cause tomorrow is taking too long
and yesterday's too far away and the reality that you believe in begins to bind.

"The Love We Make" on purpose... it was recorded during a time I felt closest to him and it seemed to fit.
I didn't even watch the news all day. I couldn't. I comforted myself and eased my mind with his music instead.

Purple Rain Then I played what I consider his 4 masterpieces: SOTT, followed by DM, then 1999 and last PR. I let it all sink in this time. He really was one of the best in the music biz. Definetely in my top 5 artists (the other four being Sly, George Clinton, The Clash & Stevie Wonder) Am playing all of his albums right now. Can't believe he gave us so much music, I've only been a fan for a year and still got piles of albums to digest. Right now I'm listening to Graffiti Bridge for the first time, diggin it so far

I put on the album 1999 and after "1999" and "Little Red Corvette" I skipped ahead to a personal favourite, "Lady Cab Driver" and let it play out to "All The Critics Love U In New York" and "International Lover". That was Thursday, and I haven't felt like playing anything else by Prince. Peace to everyone else, if it comforts you, play his stuff but if it feels too soon, don't.
