Apparently it's alleged the doctor's son had buprenorphine in his backpack.

Not sure what kind of charges could be filed given the nature of the clinic's work. Perhaps it's somehow illegal because he was not an MD and had the drugs on his person. There could also be some kind of law against intent to administer an opiate given, again, that he's not an MD.

I wonder if they'll really bring people down a la Conrad Murray or if it will fizzle like the Heath Ledger investigation.

What the heck does him having something in his backpack have to do with Prince's death?

Are they saying these people had contact with Prince before?

I was in church Sunday and before the sermon the Priest suddenly announced that he had no intention of preaching about the lesson in the bulletin. He said that he wanted to talk about the leper who couldn't get himself into the healing waters because he had no help. Then he talked about a wonderful woman he knew who was the rock that everybody depended on for help, but when she fell ill she was too independent and prideful to let anybody help her and died alone.

He admonished us that you have to be willing to let others in when you are in need.

Guess who's the first person I thought of?

Good story, you are so right. Prince seemingly bypassed an opportunity to save himself by staying in the hospital when he was so strongly advised by medical professionals to do so, yet he would not.

Even (allegedly) knowing he was at the brink of death, in an event so chaotic it caused a frantic plane landing and likely traumatizing distress to his close companions, it was going to be his way or no way.

It is possible that those he chose to keep close, who likely loved him, also drove him to pick up those prescriptions, also dropped him off at Paisley, also accessed help for him possibly against his will, then found him obviously deceased. They are probably so traumatized, grief-stricken, possibly even suicidal, and yet in forums and news threads worldwide they will and are being attacked, maligned, castigated by Prince fans who can't see the forest for the trees. And when those names are revealed this will continue for years if not decades. At the moment I feel sorrier for them than I do for Prince, who is beyond pain now.

Buprenorphine is administered in place of opiates such as Percocet to people who have become dependent on the painkillers. Given the nature of Mr. Kornfeld's visit, it can be assumed he anticipated administering those pills to Prince ahead of the meeting with the actual Doctor.

I don't think they're saying those pills played a role in his death, but charges could technically be filed because these are controlled substances. I can't just walk around with oxy or norco that isn't mine in my backpack because I feel like it or I'm holding it for someone.

I assume that's why the lawyer said he hoped the Good Samaritan law would provide immunity against all charges for his client.

They didn't give any drugs to Prince, then this is a completely non-issue.

People throwing anybody under the bus right now. The Dr. was trying.

Who drove Prince to the doctor, and the pharmacy, that's the issue now?

I can't watch the news conference. I had a breakdown last night when the story broke and haven't recovered fully yet. They better not make the doc or his d on in any way responsible for any of this. They were just trying to help and tragically only moments too late. Why Prince?! Why did you have to go and leave us this way?!?! 😢

So sad. I dont blame the Dr or his son...I think they did what they could for him, I just wish it had been a day sooner. They will try to make a scapegoat out of the son though.

I was just relaying what the TMZ report said.

Certainly a non-issue as far as Prince's death is concerned, but the lawyer did say he is fearful charges would be brought against his client. So it's hardly a non-issue for this guy who shows up on a whim to do his job and gets thrown into this cluster and could now be prosecuted.

I hope they don't bring charges against him, but I agree they're out for blood right now. They're going to take someone down even if that someone was showing up to help.

It'sa bit hard to hear the questions asked at the press conferance. Did someone ask if Prince knew that the Dr Kornfeld had been contacted and the lawyer answered yes?

I think that is significant. It tells me that after the incident on the plane Prince realized he had to find other ways to manage his pain and got in contact with someone who is a specialist in both pain management and medication dependence.

So Prince knew help was coming and he still chose to be alone, no cell phone, nothing? I think Babynoz maybe onto something...why wouldnt he have people there to help him?

It's not an intervention if the person in question knows what's about to happen and has likely made the arrangement himself.

I'm aware.

The journalist said "was Prince aware of the intervention?" and the lawyer said "yes."

Just reiterating what they said.

With this new information Im starting to see things in a new light...it will forever be sad and my heart is truly broken, but you can only help those that want help. Im hoping that if he had known he had a day to live he wouldve sought emergency medical attention...damn the celebrity. Im sure there are many people who wouldve helped Prince is only he'd have asked.

Nurse, are you seriously falling for this too? You really believe this? I don't. I strongly believe that the autopsy results/report will give us the main answers.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
