Yes it simply wasn't loud enough at the theater I went to. It could have used a bit more volume.

Went Saturday night with my husband. Wasn't really in the mood, but wanted to see it on the big screen for the first time, and, honestly, to try and grieve and celebrate Prince. It was pretty packed, bunch of people in purple, P. t-shirts, and one in a decorated purple trenchcoat. Honestly, I always loved going to concerts not only for the obvious (Prince!), but also for the feeling of camaraderie with everyone there... It always felt like my kind of people, always with great energy. I was happy to be amongst that: people were in a good mood, lots of laughs with the Morris scenes. The movie seemed more deep and serious in thr theater. Of course I cried a bunch, but it did feel cathartic and I'm glad we went. 💜💜~ ~Karebear~

Just like when a friend had me watch The Bad News Bears, there is a lot of stuff in this movie that would not fly today. The misogyny specifically. And one thing about the acting struck out at me, )yeah Prince was bad, really really bad) but most everyone else was good. I liked the naturalism of the acting. Lisa rolling her eyes and smoking a cigarette. Morris and Jerome. And Apolonia is the anchor that makes the story work. Without her sweetness among the misogyny the whole thing would fall apart. The real true ACTOR, the one who plays his father is good in the old fashioned faux emotional pretend acting we are Used to, but he seemed out of place. Like he was in a different movie. I actually liked the acting overall, it's a more playful and more natural style than the corny tradition acting we see in a lot of movies.

I just saw it in Times Square NYC. The theater was full and people cheered. I balled my eyes out and my friends had to hold me during Purple Rain. It was so painful. But it was also a celebration. I would have regretted not going, so I'm glad I did. I just cannot believe that the man so full of life and talent is gone. My friends were shocked at how amazing of a performer he was. WAS. I can't believe I said was. This is horrible... How'm I gonna fill this empty room...
