FUNKYNESS

You know you are a fan when friends you havent heard from in years call with condolences

It is like I lost a brother or something. Friends from all over the world - some that I was sure had long forgotten me - are calling to check on me. While I like to think it is all about how great I am, I know it is mostly about how great Prince is and always will be.

My daughter, who is 28 now, had people check in with HER from when they were kids back in the day - like over 20 years ago - asking "How is your mom doing? I know how much she loved Prince". I've had soooo many people reach out to me to find out how I was handling the shock and to offer their condolences. Doesn't lessen the pain though. sad

Yeah it's kinda crazy. I was out of cell coverage for a while and had about 20 missed messages for Aus and UK and comments from people whom I haven't spoken to in over 20 years. I was gobsmacked. My nephew rang me from Australia recalling a story I'd forgotten when he was about 10 and me raving about Princes new album saying he was back.Funny stuff. My buddies are dragging me to the pub tonight for Princes wake and they're not even fans.....I didn't realised I spoke about Prince so much over the tears. Hoping the Vault gets opened and we get to hear those hidden gems. Everybody take care.

THIS!!! OMG, this! My Facebook timeline, personal email, and phone are still getting blown up with "I immediately thought of you!", "Are you ok?" etc. messages. I walked into a bar last night and people who I didn't know, but remembered me as The Prince Fan from highschool (I'm 47) were giving their condolences. It's humbling.

Once again, my words aren't working, but have to try...

One of oldest and best friends of over 30 years and I don't talk or see each other much the last 5 years or so, even though we only live a few miles apart. He was the first to call me yesterday. We've decided to catch up.

Can't stop bawl

Thanks for sharing... hug

My phone and Facebook blew up. I had to recharge my phone 3 times in 12 hours. People I haven't heard from in years, reaching out to me.
My wife said "it's like you lost a family member".
I replied, "It feels like I did"

Had lots of friends on FB that I don't talk to that much send condolences...and my older brother who has made Prince jokes for year sent me an eloquent text about he always thought Prince was cool and liked him much more than he let on but it was just so fun getting a rise out of me with the jokes.

So many long lost people have contacted me and also spoke to my children to see how I'm doing and give me condolences like he's a blood relative. I'm grateful to them for thinking of me.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

a good friend whom I hadn't been in touch with for about a year texted me. he was a big Zappa fan, we were often chopping it up about our favorite artists. my sister got in touch with me over this as well. an ex-girlfriend of mine sent me a FB message about this terrible tragedy after months of not having been in touch. what happened is truly touching the world, it's consoling to see people reach out to fans they know personally

This is exactly what I said to one the people who had reached out. Through prince I discovered we were many "crazy"(in the nicest sense of the word) fans when I started bumping into the same people in the queues b4 shows in different concerts and associated artist shows. Everyone with their own Prince stories. All lovely people.

The hardest part was it was through these messages I learned. I knew it had to be that. When somebody from across the the Atlantic messages you "I assume you've heard, you must be devastated" it could only mean one thing. We'll never forget Prince.
