Thank you to the Fam

I have not posted on the Org in a long time. But like everyone else, it was the first place I wanted to go when I heard the news.

I thought I was a fan of Prince (since the early 80's) when I first came to this website. I was quickly confused and overwhelm when I started lurking and reading posts about songs and albums I had never heard of, detailed accounts of of performances other than regular concerts, bootleg material, and the fierce love and criticism for his work.

I was also fascinated by who this family was. The diversity was almost unreal, and they were all highly intelligent, ridiculously funny, sexy to the core, and grown ass people who were not 'I LOVE PURPLE RAIN!' fans. I liked them.

It inspired me to know and get all the albums. I read Orgers advise others that if you hear a new song and do not like it, play it a while, put it away, then keep bringing it out and listening to it at times. Wow, they were right! I learned to appreciate his live music as much (or more) than the recordings. I heard the unreleased material, and finally saw him live 2 times. It was a deep, funky, purple hole I had jumped into.

You all are the reason I feel like I knew him personally and am grieving so much now.

Thank you. grouphug
