It is a genuine remaster. I was done at the same time the other Prince vinyl reissues (PR, Controversy, Dirty Mind) were.

Prince did tweet about this back in February:

I hope all of the Prince albums from the 80s and 90s get remastered and re-issued. Albums like For You, Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, ATWIAD, Parade and Sign O The Times would all sound fantastic with a good remastering.

Preordered this long ago and got it in mail Tuesday but have been sick and grieving haven't listened to it yet.

I have atracking number for mine since 2 days ago and I ordered in March. It is real and on the way. For you is on pre-order for 24/5. I think Prince's tweet on this may have been misinterpretted. He said it could have happend a long time ago if WB got their act together. I don't think he actually said it wasn't going to happen?

It's released tomorrow (29th April) in my territory.

Honestly I'd say we'd need to actually see his various contracts to work out what kind of permissions were/were not needed for a reissue of the same songs and on what formats and what constitutes "remastering" and all those kind of things.

If they reprint bunch of cd's and the only difference is a few matrix numbers is that a reissue? Or a reprint? Is there a difference?

If they master a set of files for vinyl because they don't physically have the original tapes (or maybe they do??) is that a remaster? Or just a reissue? or a reprint?

and so on...

For those of you have have received these already, how is the artwork? I've never seen it on vinyl and the CD doesn't have much by way of artwork. The only pics are the cover and that thing on the inside of him namned with the acoustic guitar in front of that window. Is there anything else in the vinyl reissue? How about posting some pics?

I've just noticed on Amazon today, that barring any unforseen circumstances, WB is pushing out a ton of his albums on vinyl this year. We've got For You this week, Prince (self-titled) next month, and now suddenly announced are Around The World in A Day, Parade, The Black Album, Lovesexy, Batman, The Love Symbol Album, and Graffitti Bridge so far throughout the year, ending in December. Why Sign O' The Times and Diamonds and Pearls were skipped over I'm not sure... (maybe they'll be announced later.) Looks like "about" one a month...

I bought this vinyl. It was pre-ordered from AMOEBA. It arrived.

Pretty plain. Looks like the original.

Nothing too grand, nothing special...
