Considering what he was doing with these kids in thse last few years, I really wanted to hear "old" Prince. I imagined more material similar to NEWS or Xpectation. Maybe he would ahve mellowed a little. It angers me that we will never know.

I've literally just been saying this to people today. I always remembered his comments on Charlie Chaplin having kids in his 70s and thinking about what he'd be doing - I kinda envisaged more piano stuff, but I really did think we had another 20 years of him recording and touring to a high standard.

This is the saddest part for me: dozens of albums that won't ever be recorded, and we'll never get to see how his music would have evolved. I also expected more jazzy and instrumental stuff at some point, though it was just sheer speculation. And honestly I really thought Prince would live old, very old. Now we will never know

I feel exactly the same as all three of you above have said. In my mind, he was going to live and perform well into his 80s.

Absolutely devastating to think what he still could have given the world.
