I couldn't put this in the org artists section...so I'll just leave it here. It isn't a proper poem, but it is heartfelt and the best I can do right now.

Simply, For Prince

****************

You taught me so many things

Through your music that I

Can never tell you

But I'm telling you now

What a joy it is to listen to you sing

To wail your heart out on guitar

To minutely dissect my emotions

On your piano and a microphone

So many moments of your life

Spoke to so many of mine

Through so many years

I can't thank you enough

For getting me through

The rough spots of youth

For making it cool

To be an outcaste

The one who is misunderstood

The beautifully strange

For those who never

Quite fit in to the status quo

You spoke for us all

And then you continued

The soundtrack for our lives

Certain songs resonated

As we all grew older

Got busy with life

Some got married

Divorced

Raised children

Some had the chance

To have partners

Of their own gender

Some chose not to go

Down the garden path

Some never made it

At all...

But through

Thick and thin,

Joy and pain,

Celebrations

And losses

You were there

Always with new music

Always with the

Everlasting hope

Of seeing you

One more time

In a concert

That felt like

A spiritual revival

And I never went away

Not being uplifted

And fulfilled

For weeks to come

I will miss that

Not having you

Accompany me

And all who loved you

On the rest of the journey

But your work here

Is not yet done...

As long as your music lives

And inspires those who remain

Your legacy will live on...

And not be forgotten.

Thank you, Prince. prince

Remembering Prince's Grafitti Bridge
May 2016

Twenty-five years ago, in 1991, Eden Prairie lost its iconic Graffiti Bridge, torn down to make room for an expanded Valley View Road. To mark the occasion, the community gathered and painted the bridge one
last time.

Prince named the 1990 movie Graffiti Bridge after the landmark. It is just one of many connections the community had to Prince, who died April 21 at age 57.

Last week, Eden Prairie residents were among those around the globe remembering the icon at his Paisley Park studio and beyond.

The Eden Prairie Police Department has been assisting the city of Chanhassen and Carver County Sheriff's Office by providing equipment and traffic control around Paisley Park.

Tracy died soon after a long fought civil war,
Just after I'd wiped away his last tear
I guess he's better off than he was before,
A whole lot better off than the fools he left here
I used to cry for Tracy because he was my only friend
Those kind of cars don't pass you every day
I used to cry for Tracy because I wanted to see him again,
But sometimes sometimes life ain't always the way

Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish life was never ending,
And all good things, they say, never last

Springtime was always my favorite time of year,
A time for lovers holding hands in the rain
Now springtime only reminds me of Tracy's tears
Always cry for love, never cry for pain
He used to say so strong unafraid to die
Unafraid of the death that left me hypnotized
No, staring at his picture I realized
No one could cry the way my Tracy cried

Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad
Sometimes, sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
And all good things, they say, never last

I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy's there
I know that he has found another friend
Maybe he's found the answer to all the April snow
Maybe one day I'll see my Tracy again

Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
But all good things, they say, never last

All good things that say, never last
And love, it isn't love until it's a cry

I will forever be in mourning over him. I can't accept it and to be honest I don't want to. He saved my life literally. His music better yet his TRUTH set me free. I love you Prince and I'm so blessed I got to see him perform at Warner Theatre last year. It's hard to listen to certain songs still. I've YET to listen to Purple Rain since his death and can't bare it. I was able to listen to my favorite song by him today however. The Holy River. Lord please give him back to us. I well aware of his religion because my family are devote Jehovah Witnesses and I even studied at times. But this stings

Scarfo said: 100% this. If his history was more accessible on YouTube for today's generation his ridiculously major presence and contribution would be a part of their lives. I remember his eighties videos when they were released and the hoo-ha around a new album but those are my memories. Anyway, just to say that people have talked to me about songs they never realise he wrote and performances they've seen online - that they love them. It's kind of a comfort. I just wish he hadn't had to die to get the recognition he deserved. That's human nature though. While MJ was alive, during his latter years, it was all gossip about this and that. As soon as he passed it was all forgotten and the press celebrated his music again.

Again, you guys aren't reading what I actually wrote. If you go back and read you will see than I'm only talking about people I personally know and talk to, not generations in general. Just to clarify my circle is people in their 40s and 50s, not the younger generation. Why would I criticize people who weren't even born?

I'm also not talking about the people who called to check on me and offer words of support. To be clear, I am referring to people who all they had to say to me when Prince was alive was that he was too weird/gay but now they wanna call me and yap like old church ladies gossipping over the fence because they read something in the tabloids.

If they simply didn't care for his music I was fine with that, but don't call me because all of a sudden the media says it's okay to like Prince? No thanks.

My apologies. I guess sometimes folks don't really realize something or someone is really good until after they're gone.

My pleasure. If they allow us to take cell phones into Paisley Park that night I'll do my very best to photograph your poem sitting somewhere inside. I'll keep you and everyone here posted...

Thank you so much! And please share your experience at Paisley Park. I'm sure so many would like to hear about it.

You're so very welcome. I'm certain they will at least allow us to take paper into Paisley Park that night smile so I definitely can get your poem inside and set it down in a few cool places. I promise I will. I'll be at First Avenue also, and can tape a copy next to his star if you'd like. I can definitely get a photo of that for you. If you're curious, here's the link to the Paisley Park event below. I believe it's the first time it's being opened to the public since, well....you know.

:(

Im only just now coming out of it.only cried once so far today 😳 i also go to sleep with him on my mind and wake different times during the night. This is strange for me becuz im not a very emotional person. I guess 34 years of following one man and wishing him the best will make you emotional. This is Life after Prince and so far it sucks...
Thank you Prince for being U!

It's 2 weeks now and it still hurts so much! Was just listening to Around the world in a day an this end of the album when he screams "Nooooo", well that's when it hit me again. Seems to be a longer healing process.

At least you can listen to His music. I still cant. There are alot of amazing videos on youtube i refuse to watch right now...there is a cute YouTube thing with Damaris waking Prince up in his hotel room... It was from 2012 i think. I was able to listen to that. Prince had a good sense of humor.
I just dont understand this whole thing. Prince was alot more religious and a kind hearted person as far as i can tell. But this still happened to him what does that mean??
Thank you Prince for being U!

Man oh man.... reading this hurt me more actually. I don't like the fact he's gone and knowing all of us are hurt makea it even worse for me. I get what you mean fully. He was pratically family. He raised so many of us basically. Music can be the most powerful form of connecting. We all have to get through this. We just have too sad
