I just saw the news item on the Stones in Cuba. The doors are wide open. Prince should go there. I wanna go, too. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I've known people who travelled there in recent years... A great alternative option is renting a room from a local family who takes in tourist boarders to make extra income. Don't ask me about resources; I'll have to ask those who did it. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I hope not. Not until Cuba allows free elections for their people. People get all sucked into this sideshow without looking at the facts. "Hey, I got the butta 4 ya muffin, honey.. I'm just 2 old 2 hold the knife!"

Probably not. I don't think he is very popular in Latin America. What I would love for him to do, is jam with some Cuban musicians like Ry Cooder did. That could lead to an album like we've never heared before.

. i've been watching (tto many?) episodes of Property Brothers and fantasizing about buying an old hotel in Havana and renovating it. there aren't any hotels there right now (or not enough) so i was thinking buy this one and fix it up, make a fortune in the next five years: .

Casa particulares.....most people who travel to Cuba do that. So did I . A huge chunk of the money goes to the government, and if families are not successful with renting out a room to tourists they lose their licence and their source of income. I stayed with an elderly lady, a former maths teacher, right in the center of Old Havanna.

They have had those private restaurants for quite some time now. The state owned restaurants are overpriced and not that great. I found eating (or rather, looking for something edible) a pain in the ass in Cuba and got into arguments very often. The service is terrible, and so is the food, and while I know that they don´t have access to most basic foods I still would not blame it on a food shortage but simply greed and bad service. Cuba is a wonderful country with lots of music everywhere, and vibrant colors and people but the food is very bland, very expensive....almost laughbably expensive and overpriced, and most Cubans , especially in Havanna, are just after your money. I´ve been to poorer countries where people were much nicer, and the food much better. When I see Cuban food in the USA, like in Miami, I´m often surprised how very little it has in common with Cuban food in Cuba. Of course I understand that they don´t have much and that there´s an embargo but still....things could be much better organized, and handled and managed better. Many of the flaws have very little to do with the embargo. I actually left a couple of days earlier than planned because I had had enough of it all and wanted to go back to Costa Rica. I´m not sure if they even know who Prince is. But what I do know is that he would probably like it there because Cubans really appreciate music and you hear a lot of music everywhere. Financially it would not make much sense for Prince to play there. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! If Prince ever plays there, it should be when the government of the US stops the commercial, economic and financial embargo it has had against Cuba for the last 45 years. And that should be a free concert (just like The Rolling Stones).
Wait a minute... Prince giving a free concert?? That ain't happening.

I don't think he would give a free concert, he would play to a paying audience though. Also how could you police people from bringing in cellphones and cameras. . Plus the people there are commies and atheist, so how would his preaching and churchy stuff go down. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

. Why would I go to the USA before the revolution? The embargo against Cuba is still in effect. Do not pay attention about what Obama says or dances to. Do pay attention about what he does in politics and in command. . Cuba will not be the same again after the recent changes in the relation with the US. The US just sees cheap labour. . For the Prince man I see not so many fans. Not so much money.

About the embargo: https://en.wikipedia.org/...he_embargo . People should go to Cuba (if possible via a direct flight, not via the US) to see what is left. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

. Well, that depends on the flight (direct, not via US territory please), the price of the flight, the ticket price and the setlist. But I would consider!

This is interesting. You dislike going to the US so much that you don't even want to spend a few hours on an airport waiting for a connecting flight, yet you are totally fascinated by this one American artist. What's the story behind that?

. Did you ever keep up with the news since e.g. 11 september 2001? Did you notice anything (gradually) change in that country? It was already in the US system long before that, but got noticable even for me. . Condor has flights from Frankfurt am Main to Havana for a fairly decent price. Thanks for the reminder: a German guy I met in Lima told me about Condor, but I had sort of forgotten about it. And as for the US, I have no travelling plans, but all the Americans I ever met were really nice people, so if I ever decide to go, I wouldn't let politics stop me.

I would always want to see Prince play, but only if he was playing there by chance and I was there. I would naturally go to Cuba so see Cubans, not to taste American culture. (enough of that at home) Cubans are like the Spanish in Spain though, always full of music and dance, from what I've heard from those who've been to Cuba. Not sure of their view or exposure to Prince music though. "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -

It all depends....if there is a fanbase or locals who would want to see him performing live. Also if they give him an offer he can't refuse I don't even think he has a large fanbase in Latin America. When was the last time he performed in Mexico? Brazil? Puerto Rico? He is more high in-demand in Canada, USA, Europe and even Australia. However, it would be nice for him to venture out and perform in other nations Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine..Purple music does the same 2 my brain
