Michael Jackson's "HIStory" album inspired by early 1990s Prince?

When I hear Michael Jackson's HIStory album, it reminds me of Prince's early 1990s material - notably his Diamonds & Pearls and LoveSymbol album.

MJ's songs' structures are different from P's but the tone sounds familiar. Anyone heard "Tabloid Junkie"? It has the same tone as P's unused track "The P".

Any thoughts on this?
