The opening of WDC is indeed iconic

So, do we not think the SOTT movie is one long iconic music video? (formalism notwithstanding biggrin )

We, yes. People who don't know Prince "What is SOTT????????????"

The whole Ying-Yang of Prince i guess.

-

The Enigma

-

As "True Funk Soldiers"...we can only bring "People" into "We"

-

Part of the whole "organic" experience of prince is the appeal

-

Mega-to- Underground

-

If SOTT isn't known - then it is our organic world to enlighten

-

Because Prince does what he wants...

Well, if you take into account it's a movie like Connected mentioned, you begin to narrow it down a lil' mo' betta. The if you understand SOTT are actually the initials for something, you narrow it down a little further. Then if you take the whole sentence in the context presented, you get........

Come on Wolfie87! I KNOW you can do it! lol

He never did Ethnic / World Music, did he?

Nothing à la Peter Gabriel...

Joni jammed with the Tambours of Burundi, Paul Simon's "Graceland"...
We haven't got anything really afro-african from Prince... Am I wrong?

A italian critic said that "For You" (the song) is a song in Paul Simon ethnic style.

Meh... nonsense. It's just Gospel for the first part, and a strong Stevie Wonder's "Secret Life Of Plants" african beat influence for the second part.

"Graceland" is something else.

Maybe "New Position" and "Life Can Be So Nice" can qualify as under "afro" influence... The "Life Can Be So Nice" coda could be taken out of a Fela Kuti jam.

No he hasn't but please no hip-hop.

-

I'd like to see an album (one or two cds) that blends album ideas like Expectation, C-Note and NEWS but under the theme of NEWS. A journey around the world where he mixes and blends world cultures musically from each geographical direction, so yes African percussion, Asian wind instruments, Latin acoustic, Middle East eroticism and Western jazz. Only Prince can do this.

-

The songs must tell a story of human culture assembling around music and art, using it as its salvation, in coming together as one, ending war and religion.

-

But first he must focus on the book. 2017 a good year to start on a new venture.

Prince has not done a non-sampler aftershow during a piano tour.

AKA he has not done a 'real music by real musicians' recently.

So he uses that term very selectively.

Prince has always mixed analog, digital and sequenced tracks as he pleases. His term real music is more about being able to and doing live music. He does, even though he throws in some djaying every now and then.

The sampler set has been done to death.

He feels no shame to use the sampler during a piano gig.

And he does a sampler-only aftergigthing.

That is kinda weak if you compare the skills for a piano player/singer versus a samplerbuttonpusher.

Aftergigs of this tour (or what looks to be like a tour) are to be avoided if you value real music by real musicians.
